Meet Up Before the Carlton Match - July 19

OK Now, its too early to meet up for drinks and I haven't got a clue where the nearest pub to Optus Oval is, so I have decided that for this match only (if successful we might try it later in the year for the Melbourne match) that we have a meet up over breakfast at a Hotel in the city.

Now I have decided to get this going early so I can get numbers together so I can look for a place to hold this thing.

SO if your available for breakfast on Saturday July 19 at 9am, can you either leave a message here or PM me stating you availablity.

I will then find a place willing to have us and somewhere close to public transport (trams)

So if interested please respond ASAP

Sounds good Robbie. IIRC the closest pub would be Naughtons, on Royal Parade. It's easy walking distance to OO, but they are connected by a tram line that also runs into the CBD.

I'm pretty sure they do food there, but don't know about breakfast. IMHO a few pre-game drinks there instead of an RSVP'd breakfast would be simpler for everyone, especially you.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

      Naughtons is a NRL pub

I feel its just way too early for a pub (remember we have to be at the ground early to get in, as their is little GA tickets available on match day - about 3500)

I'm sure that I would be able to get at least 10 people possibly more. (Gemma, JF, Charlie???????) Plus something different than normal could be a good idea.

          The more the merrier

Well I'm going to find a nice Hotel in the city that will have us. Once I find out I'll look for numbers and then give out details and prices.

No, we can get in on the card at the gate, however we are including in the GA tickets of which there are only 3500 on the day so getting there early is important

rob, can tickets be bought online? i'm part of a group of 14 from up here, and we've been trying to find a website but can't and if there are onlt 3500 that's a bit of a worry

I reckon it would be better to go out for a feed after the after-match. I know a couple of you want to go to Essendon-Brisbane, but I still think it would be better to meet when time is not against us.

I arrived to Carlton-Port late, and it was a full-on horror story. Don't let yourselves be in that situation, as otherwise it will be $35 for a game of footy in a set seat in the Legends Stand.

Gemma, as I showed you today, you can buy a GA ticket on the internet and print it out. I know it is totally goofy taking a photo-copy to the footy as your match ticket, but it does make things heaps easier.

If you get in, stay-in. And if you go to Carlton, go early. End of story.

The meet-up will have to wait for another game. (Most of us will all be in the ground in or around the Cheer Squad anyway, so it is a bit of a much of a muchness.)

So can I throw a grenade at it then?

Hopefully Miss Storm John Ribot and her co-horts will be inside, planning their next suicide mission.

I suggest a meet up for dinner in Lygon St too after the aftermatch. Those wanting to go to the Bris/Ess match would really have to leave for the Dome right after the match and miss the aftermatch, but its your own decision. It would be nice to get a good turn out, and plus we have longer than normal to eat.

Also if a group want to meet up for coffee in Lygon St at say 10.30am then just PM me and we'll plan things

How come I didn't know about the aftermatch at Flemington

I'm a Vic member, and the last I heard was the usual venue (The old Lake Oval) was unavailable.

                              So its Flemington now. Alllllrighty!!!
