Oh ok, what sort of crowd do you reckon we could get there in say the first week of the finals against a collingwood for example ?

It's hard to say. It all depends on the chardonnay set... it could be 40,000 or it could be 75,000... who'd know?

By the way, we are now averaging 28,678 per game this year. With the game against Collingwood to come, I'd be dissappointed if we failed to get that above 30,000 by the end of the year. This total doesn't include the Bulldogs game, which was an away game.

I heard rumours being flashed around that there were 31000 pre-sold tickets (inc. members).

Security have a crowd raffle before the match. I said 26800, and wasn't far off. To me considering the footy we are playing, that is still a little disappointing. Sydney is such a frustrating place; it gains ages to gain people's attention. Then once we get success, people can simply disappear within weeks.

Yes, I'd be hoping for another 45000+ match against the Black & White Scum. In theory we should be getting over 50000. But that is not only dependant on how many Eastern Suburbs capuccino drinkers dust off their designer jeans for their one-yearly trip west of Surry Hills, but how much publicity we get in the Terror. Oh, and hitting the top 3 will not hurt either! P

The NRL is back with a vengeance this year, and considering the editor is an ex first grade rugby league player, he is always going to ensure it gets preferential coverage to either us or the Wallabies. Once we hit the back pages, expect another 2-3000 almost instantly.

i noticed yesterday that we made the front page of the terror, albeit it was jude with delta, but at least there was that much exposure... not to take anything away from delta's plight

Not sure how to read it but the General Admission Bays were noticably chockers on Sat. night with the rest of the ground pretty much as normal.

That may be saying something about the price of reserved seating particularly with respect to the large walk up crowd in the last few weeks. I'm told we have the most expensive ticket prices in the league.

Yeah. Those would be the "family sections". I sit right on the edge of one of these chasms. It's always disappointing. Not sure how many seats are designated in these non-alcohol areas, but after a few years flogging them, maybe the Swan's should reconsider their worth to the club.

Considering that we also get stuff all press in the Herald-Sun it really is not good enough.

It's almost as though Murdoch/News LTD is trying to strangle the game up here by limiting our press in both main cities.

The Sydney Morning Herald isn't much better but they aim more for the RA-RA crowd by default anyway.

I'm also confused as to why there are no AFL adds on telly this year. The "I'd like to see that" campaign was excellent but this year - nothing.

I know that there is an ad campaign scheduled for next year (I presume pre-season to encourage membership, but I don't know).

It's very expensive to advertise I reckon. If the Swans have cash problems then they'll have to think twice before they go and spend money for any ad campaign, especially now that Channel 9 has got TV rights for the broadcasting of AFL games. In the past Channel 7 was more forthcoming and I believe they might have even helped the Swans with their ad campaigns (professionaly and financialy). Don't expect that from Channel 9 because of 2 reasons:
                      1. NRL
                      2. Eddie McGuire

The Swans will have to find some kind of association with Channel 10 perhaps in order to get any ad campaign going for a reasonable price.

I'm not talking about promoting the Swans specifically, more so Australian football.

Having said that, I actually saw for the first time tonight and AFL ad on CH10!

It featured the Peter Hillier (?) from "Rove live" and they actually had someone in Swans clobber!

I think the slogan for the ad was something like "AFL - it's everywhere" I was in shock! Better late than never I guess.

These AFL ads with Pete Hellier have been around for months just not on high rotation. I probably notice them about 4-5 times a week.

Forget channel 10 helping Sydney - all their AFL information is now on Melbourne teams - especially guess which team - yep your right - Damn Collingwood. I am fed up. Used to stay up to watch late sports news - on AFL - now all Melbourne teams. Even Sunday night admittingly we played Sat night but we hear all about all the other team and a very quick mention of Swans.

I don't know what Sydney have to do - no mention of us being equal 4th on points. Just all on 1 to 4 Port etc. But did manage to keep including Collingwood or Essendon.

We need a really good PR department within the club I feel. Someone to really promote us and get an in with Ch 10 Sydney or papers. We need a lot more drive in regards promotion.
                            Love those Swans

I agree the swans PR dept really needs a shake . They really need to find a way to market the club to the Sydney media. and FAST !! Unfortunatley I think, they think this is an area that they can save money. If that is the case, boy are they wrong !! this is an area where they can MAKE money !!!

There have been ads this year ... Goodes @ MrsMacquarie's Chair (taking a mark over a kid), those STUPID RIDICULOUS gate-attendants (BORING!) ... The "This Saturday on Ch.10" ads have had far greater exposure - what a shame they want people tostay home & watch! I wonder what the tv ratings have been recently?
