Here are my match up thoughts
Saddo on Riewolt
Barry on Hamill
Crouch on Harvey
Kirk on Hayes
Schauble on Gerhig
Goodes/Ball on Kosi
I hope thats all we need.
Williams was vvery defence orientated on Judd last week. He played a great game, but i reckon he missed that open goal in the 1st quarter because he was looking over his shoulder
The Stkilda backline is very average IMHO
Hayes and Harvey need to be shut down
Ball and Goodes to fire and give us first use.
Throw LRT forward a bit earlierSeptember 24th, 2005 5.14pm
What a great moment in all of our livesComment

I watched the game against Essendon on Friday night at the Telstra Dome and I must admit taht I expected a much closer game. The Saints were really disappointing and were properly trashed by the Bombers. There could be only 2 reasons for this; either have the Saints dropped in their intensity, which could be good for us, or have the Bombers increased theirs to catch up with the eight. Take your pick, but I wouldn't take the Saints too lightly.Comment

Saints lack height and quality in defence, our forward line should tear them apart. Throw Ball or LRT early in there and they won't be able to hold us out. Micky to kick another bag, and Ball/Goodes will thrash Knobel/Koschitzke in the ruck. Kirk will claim another scalp in Hayes while J.Bolton and Harvey will square off.Comment

Shutting down - or at least containing - Harvey and Hayes is the key and shutting down the top couple of opposition midfielders is something we've done well all year. Against teams like Port there are always others to stand up but there's not much depth in the Saints midfield when you take away these two superb players. And if the midfield can't get much of the ball, the Saints quality talls (Riewoldt, Kosi, Gehrig and Hamill) will be limited in the damage they can inflict.
Biggest risk IMO (always assuming our guys are ready to play and aren't taking it for granted) is that the Saints are so down on confidence after their shellacking last weekend that they revert to the tactics that brought us undone at Colonial last year. Hopefully, even if that happens we will show more intelligence than we did last year and work out how to counter it.Comment
