LRT - Time for a rest?

He's played 8 games straight now.
In no game has he reached 10 possessions.
He's still getting limited game time.

I know many here see him as some kind of messiah, but I'd like to see MJ or Powell get anothe go.

    I don't think he is a 'messiah' - certainly a talent.

Would keep him in - don't underestimate the importance of resting Ball and Goodes - giving them ruck relief is important.

Haing him on for the last 10 minutes or so of qrtrs means those guys get a rest - given their importance and Doyle's injury IMO they should keep him in the side until Doyle can come back in - just as a backup
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Very good points Reggi. I say keep him in at least untill Doyle comes back.

Midaro lay off LRT . You have been negative on him since before his debut, or @ least a wet blanket for others enthusiasim.
I like him cos he's Sydney born and bred and has the potential to be anything..

I like him because even if he stuffs up he keeps going hard for the pill.

As Reggi said, good as a relief option as well.

and yep, i am another critic but a true believer in LRT making it into a 'good player'in due course BUT.....he is NOT READY for the top 22. Can't kick and no footy smarts, courage and endeavor but, more time in the reserves please.

I think it might be a good move to have him in the 2nd's for a few weeks to get some much needed game time, so he is fresher for the finals. Menklejohn and Powell are worthy of a spot for a few weeks

I think that he should be dropped back - he's getting limited game time, and really hasn't justified having twice the taste that Mullet got. He's a future talent, but he's like most big guys... he'll start to realise his potential at 21-22, not at 19.

Bring MJ in for a couple of matches, hopefully filling the gap until Doyle returns.

Agree his kicking could use some work but I've been pretty impressed by his "footy smarts" in the limited game time he's had. His ability to provide ruck relief is probably the reason he's kept his spot.

I'm not really bothered whether he stays in or not, but I'd like to see one spot each week made available for him, Powell, Sunny or another player who really puts his hand up in the reserves. Sunny will probably make way this week for Maxfield which would be a shame in some ways. He's certainly shown us little glimpses of his talent but hasn't really been given the chance to string a few games together.

Unfortunately, it seems Sunny is a certainty to come out of the team this week. Maxi HAS to come back in, but the players that were bordering on being dropped - Fossie, Nicks and perhaps O'Keefe - were all more than good enough to stay in the side, while LRT will ONLY come out of the side for a tall, I think. Do we perhaps have the luxury of dropping a tall at Optus Oval, though?

Well, I think at Optus Oval we should try and beat Carlton with foot speed, this is a major area that they are lacking according to Pagan, so maybe drop Roberts-Thompson and bring Maxfield back in. We have the height to match Carlton, but they really are lacking pace and after last night and the trip back from the West they should be really buggered

I missed the first half of the Reserves game and did not spot James Meiklejohn at all . Did he play ? Was he injured during the game?

The rucKmen that I saw were Stevens , Powell and a very tall and raw youngster who came off the bench.

I still reckon it helps Ball and Goodes to get that extra 10-20 minutes or so that LRT buys them. MJ would benefit from the run, but I think LRT proved to be a little more versatile, especially in the forward line.

If the issue was purely fatigue, I can see a case for sure. But I would've thought his low game time would've limited the toll on his body?
