Will be interesting to see tonight, whether Pagan does the sensible thing and drops Martyn.

He's too slow for either of Hall or O'Loughlin, and I can't see him outmarking Jason Ball while JB is resting, either. He's in for an absolute hell of a day. McKay should do ok on Micky, but Mick only needs to get away once or twice a quarter to be quite damaging, and McKay isn't as quick as Micky is.

The ball will come in hard and fast, as well. Their ruckman, French, hasn't taken a mark in 4 weeks. Allan and McKernan are the other ruckman - we all know that Allan is past it and McKernan is a forward. They may break even at the centre clearances (doubtful) but Goodes will give them a caning around the ground.

The midfielders are, all in all, quite superior. Carlton have Camporeale and Kouta. Kouta will be damaging (Kouta always is), but Campo should be shut down by Kirk again, just like round 1. After that, they have very little. Franchina will probably take Williams, but that still leaves Jude and Cressa, doesn't it?

Our defence has to come up against the strongest part of the Carlton team... If they do the sensible thing and leave McKernan where he can actually play (forward pocket), he could give us some trouble. I'd expect Saddo on McKernan and Schauble on Fevola. Barry and Bolton should handle Houlihan and Lappin though.

Where, exactly, are Carlton going to beat us? At worst, we'll break even on our matchups. They are going to find it reasonably hard to score, by the time they combat our midfield, while ours is potent.
