Sid, the scum player was running with the flight of the ball.
If Cresswell as much as put his hands in the air, the scum player has no option to contact Cresswell from a front on position.
Result? Free kick. Thank you linesman, thank you ball boys.
My original post on this subject was not a deliberate attempt to criticise Cresswell. It was in response to somebody suggesting that they would have dragged ND for the lob kick. I pointed out that had Cresswell made a better attempt to mark that ball, ND's kick would not have come under scrutiny.
The same thing happened last year in THAT game against StKilda.
That cross-field kick that Wolf intercepted before hitting the post should have been marked, or at least a contest eventuated if the Swans player (Maxie I think) had moved a few steps to meet the ball. He waited and let Wolf come and get it. The cross field kick with seconds on the clock was not a good option, but they (Matthews/Seymour??) took all the brunt of criticism when they were only 50% to blame.
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09
notice on talking footy they highlighted the difference between his good and bad and suggested that Malthouse would be glad to be rid of him and how he's a bother to Roos. I thought it was a bit harsh as his kicking is not the worst going around.
Hey snowy, are you talking about Nick Davis?
The same Nick Davis who plays for Sydney?
The same Nick Davis who is the best kick for goal & in general play?
Yes thommo, snowy is talking about nick davis, infact I saw the segment on TF snowy is talking about.
However
Snowy they werent bagging his kicking, they were having a go at his laziness in general play in which they highlighted a sloppy, lazy kick from davis that shouldnt have occured.
His work ethic not his kicking was being targeted.
Nick Davis is equal to the best kick at our club, if not the best.
IMO if you look at his game from early in the season and look at it now, it's vastly improved. He is now attacking the play and chasing, whereas earlier if he was beaten he wouldn't go the extra yard to try and regain possesion.
With Roos moving him further from the forward line he's had to earn his pay. It's good see.
Here's my heart and you can break it
I need some release, release, release
We need
Love and peace
"Although he is unlikely to be anyones' favourite player, he does deserve a position in the team."
I thank you not to speak on my behalf Sid. He is in my favourite few simply because he oozes class, thinks far quicker than most players, has a week to dispose of the footy and but for the odd poor disposal, treats the football with the utmost respect.
He is but a child in experience in the game. We have not seen the best of him by a long chalk, and I am glad he is on our side and not Collingwood's come finals time. I suspect Roos feels the same way.
Who cares what crap TF comes up with. We are the winners in the Nick Davis Story.
Actually I gathered it was about work ethic, but I still feel that for whatever reason sections of the media stereotype him and other players and display a lack of insight. And I for one think that class doesn't grow on trees and it is probably easier to instil work ethic into a lazy player than convert a battler to a champion.
