Its like we are playing 2 teams, with the umpires the extra team. Umpires seem to get off to a good start for the opposition all the time.

Very frustrating to watch but some decisions went our way too, but definitely not enough.
Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal

Needless to say it was all down to the fact the DOG was umpiring. Goldspink never gives us a fair go, nor does he have any idea of the rules.

The thing that pissed me off the most was the Hall out on the full when the ball came off his bloodly knee. It was as clear as day yet the blind freddy umpiring needed his bloodly guide dog to decide if it was out on the full or not. Last time I checked your knee is not part of your foot, thus it was out of bounds.

What pisses me off about you ask, the bloodly fact Freo, went up the field and kicked a easy goal.
      Once was, now elsewhere

I liked the one against Leo Barry, in front of the O'Rielly stand, which miraculously was ok the second time around.

Frustrating today, as always look where the umpies are when infringements happen or frees are given.

The one 5m out to Croad I think it was at the Paddo end for being pushed over by Willo. Umpie was *outside the 50m* paid the free and ran in. How the hell he could see a ticky free that far away floors me.
Saddo's "throw", umpie was right on the spot, yet Freo get away with one or two in the last q coz the umpie was again 50 or so m away.

On the other foot Willo goes for a bounce get's tackled with a touch of forward momentum and gets an in the back to what was clearly holding the ball.

What about where BBBH ended up kneeing the ball OOBOTF, but just before was pulled down with an arm over the shoulder, yet no free there. Kennedy normally isn't too bad, but he was pretty bad today.

The worst though IMHO was a secondary umpire 70-80m away running in to give Croad a free right in front of goal when the controlling ump was 10m or so away and clearly called play on. Things like that just annoy me so much, especially coz it has en effect on the scorebaord, and sometimes the momentum of the game.

Goldsphinctre has always had it in for us. Someone at the AFL seriousley needs to look into his umpiring in our games.

                  The inconsistency was dumbfounding.

Lets hope Goldsphincter (good one footyhead) is not umpiring any finals matches.

Floppynob, that one of Willo's was in the back. When replayed Dermie explained that the tackler jumped off the ground when tackling rather than Willo doing a falling act. Have a look at the replay, it was pretty obvious. But can see your point, in fast motion at the game it can look different.

I thought Kirk's around the neck in the last quarter was about the softest of the day.

I want to know how that free kick was paid in front of the Noble stand by the umpire in the centre square with the sun in his eyes, when the other umpire was five metres from the contest not looking into the sun and called play on.

If anything, that umpire should have gone up and belted the other guy for not trusting his decision.

Sorry about the vague description, I didnt have a footy record with me coz they were sold out. Hence the umpires were just one big mass of yellow puss to me.

I am not an umpire basher - i.e. - their against us , they have no clue, blah, blah, blah - however one decision I found very interesting was the one where Nicks had a free kick and the umpire called advantage when there was clearly no advantage and the umpire wouldnt bring the kick back to nicks, and thus the umpire not admiting he made a mistake and bounced the ball.

                          LOL! That's too funny.

Not just us. He is consistently appalling in ALL of the games he umpires (about the only thing he is consistent with). I reckon he should be looked at also.

I've just finished watching the game again on tape and I still can't understand some of the decisions. Neither could the commentary team a couple of times. I was going to ask if anyone had 'AFL Rules for Dummies' because I didn't grow up with the game, but I guess it wouldn't make any difference.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Ahem,,, yes that would be me.

On viewing of the replay last night I believe you to be correct. And Saddo's throw was clearly an open handed handball (his protestations clearly influenced my view!!!!!!)......... amazing how much perceptions change after viewing the game up close (i.e. on the tele.) both decicions correct.

If you track down that book, maybe you could buy an extra copy and send it to AFL House - mark it for the attention of Mr J. Geischen.
