    Good scrappy win.

Not all that pretty, but credit where credit is due. The Swans came up against a good team at the top of their game, and came away with the points. Good enough.

Goodes, Cresswell, Kirk (shut down Bell), Hall, O'Loughlin, Barry and Jude Bolton can all be very proud of their performances today. Schneider and Fosdike were also pretty good.

They has us bent over a prison canteen table.
    Goldspink had our arms pinned.
Commetti and Brereton were cheering them on.

...but then when it all seemed hopeless we broke free of the yellow maggot and pulled out a shank.
We stabbed them in the neck.
Blood spurted forth, thick and black.
    They wilted and DIED.

    Good win.

Great final quarter comeback - must admit I thought we were gawn at three-quarter time. Just goes to prove we're not front-running soft ****s as I heard one Carlton supporter call us last week.

Um... yep. Good description. Now... put the knife down... you DON'T have to do this!

Seriously though, I love the imagery.

Great win by the boys. I hope it proves to that journalist last week that we do have character.

Why did Roos leave Saddington on Medhurst?!!?

Saddo about 194cm Medhurst about 178cm

Saddo was too slow for him - why couldn't someone like Nicks go on him?

Umpiring was terrible in the first half - Trent Croad musta slipped 'em a few notes.

            Cressa is a LEGEND!

Spot on - great to see they can come from behind like that against quality opposition (not sure whether Melbourne count anymore).

Goodes was fantastic in the final quarter - and to think he'd pretty much had to ruck all game single-handedly. Schneider was superb. Cressa was - well, he was Cressa. Hall and Magic worked very hard and got their rewards. Stevens presented well and is a decent mark but those two goals he missed were criminal - just lazy kicks with no preparation.

Kirk - what can you say about him. Shows that you can "tag" but still be attacking and creative. His clearances out of the centre were critical in that final term - he was almost the difference between us winning and losing.

And special mention to Leapin' for that attempted mark / spoil on our forward 50 midway through the final quarter. There was no way he was going to get to that contest - but then he did and even the maggots couldn't manufacture a free kick against us out of that superlative effort. Freo were clear had they got that ball, so arguably a 12 point effort.

I think it was almost by default. Schauble had Longmuir, Barry had Croad, C.Bolton had Pavlich, Crouch had Farmer, and so when Simmonds wasn't pushed up forward, it was left for Saddo to get Medhurst. If Fixter was playing, would have been a good matchup.

This was as they call it an 8-point win, because it was against the side in the top 8. There are more such games coming up and those are against Crows, Lions and Magpies (assuming that Hawks won't be able to make it). Once you start loosing any of those you begin your rapid slide down the ladder. We should assume by now that the Swans have entered the finals race, but from what position will they contest it (the Flag?), is yet to be seen.

Just another tough win that showed again that we're the real deal. IMHO, as a football game (regardless of the result), it was the best game the Swans have been involved in this year.

I'd be happy between now and the end of the H&A season to win only 3 more games, provided they were Adelaide, Brisbane and Collingwood - we win those 3 and we're definitely top 4, simply because we'd be winning against teams competing with us for a top 4 spot.

                    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I thought it was a fantastic fighting game by both sides. The swans coming back from 14 pts down show real strength of character. We always seem to play bad in the third qtr for some reason tho. Anyhow Freo got 6 free kicks in front of goal and that ump calling a throw against Saddington was outrageous and got them a goal. So is the 50m early for Farmer's act.

The crowd was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. Loved every minute of it.

12/5 and second on the ladder. Go the MIGHT SWANS!!!

while i agree with u that on the TV, schneider didnt look to be playing better than pretty good, but he was a lot better than that yesterday!!! i thought "fumbling" fosdike had a case of the fumbles yesterday

Schneider was fantastic, he just oozes class everytime he gets the ball. Might be a rough chance for the rising star award IMO.

It was always going to be a tough game. Freo beat us to the ball in almost every contest in the 3rd quarter. The backline had a tough day out and will need to lift against the Crows.

I don't usually bag the opposition, particularly after we have beaten them, but did anyone else think Freo's goal scorers were show ponies? A few of them, Pavlich comes to mind, did the fist in the air and gave it to the crowd. Fair enough if you beat us chaps but not when your point kicking left the door open for us to win...

                              great win

it was a great win considering the early loss of jason ball. with jason off injured and LRT injured , it meant that goodes' had to ruck all day against a side with a definite height advantage. goodes was magnificent, as was kirky.
it is no coincidence that season 2003 is such a success with jason ball back from injury and firing in the ruck something we desperately missed last year. hope he dosen't miss too much football with this latest injury. i dare say we cant afford to lose him to long term injury again
