I don't usually bag the opposition, particularly after we have beaten them, but did anyone else think Freo's goal scorers were show ponies? A few of them, Pavlich comes to mind, did the fist in the air and gave it to the crowd. Fair enough if you beat us chaps but not when your point kicking left the door open for us to win...
Have to agree with that one. T. Longmuir kicked a goal in front of us on near the O'Reilly/Bradman pocket, and by his reaction after it you would have thought he'd been given a huge spray while lining up by the crowd.

Funny thing was, he hadn't. My friend usually gives any opposition player lining up a right old shouting at, but chose not to that time.

Unfortunately that Longmuir fella didn't return to our part of the field, so we were unable to give him any advice on his post-goal celebrations.

I'd like to think that I managed to make Medhurst kick a point, though, by asking politely of him whether he was wearing a mullet or a bowl cut, and asking him to make up his mind on the matter...

Might be. IIRC he has more goals than any of the other nominees and his possession count is right up there to.

He's got be to better than a 'rough chance' - its not just the number of goals he gets but where he gets them from .

In front or on an angle - no problem

Scneider was awesome, he looks great whenever he is near the ball, a real prospect. Fozzy....possible traid bait?? he buggers up under pressure and we could get a decent draft pick for him.
The forwards worked hard up the ground, and the midfield was as good as ever. Our biggest weakness had to be the running off the backline early on.

As the for the showponies after goals, Longmuir was a di**head. He was celebrating a second quater goal like it was a match winner

Sampi's a couple ahead of him at the moment, but there's not much in it.

For all the talk of Wells, Ball and Goddard being in the race it is probably between Polak, Mitchell, Sampi and maybe, maybe, just Schneider.

Have to say I wasn't particularly struck by what I saw of Polak yesterday, but that's just one game. Sampi is a very smart player but probably has been playing predominantly as a forward, whereas Schneider has had his turns in the midfield.

Mitchell has had a very good year as an in-and-under midfielder and wouldn't be surprised to see him get the nod.

Best thing about Schneider is his consistency. He's had an impact on pretty much every game he's played, very unusual for a rookie, especially a skinny 19yo. His goals have usually come at important times, he creates as well as scores, he's not scared of tackling defenders twice his size, and he's shown he can kick every type of goal - the mark and kick, the long bomb, the snap and the sneaky crumb.

hehe Skinny you say Lizz? Are your binoculars around the wrong way? I think Schneids wishes he was slightly leaner!

The Schneiderman is definitely electrifying and we love to be thrilled by his goals on the run. Close to goal, he gets me out of my seat 9 times out of 10.

Put it this way, A.S. is what is keeping say Nicksy on the pine at the start of games. When you think about it, he has even taken Nicksy's mantel as the most arrogant player on the list because he is backing it up with consistent performance (good call Lizz)

One thing a rookie tends to do is run out of puff by Rd 15 and find himself back in Ressies.

Seem to recall some thread starters who thought Schneids would benefit from time in the Ressies????

I was one of those. It was just my opinion that he should go back as he had a couple of quiet games, an in supposedly a rebuilding year, I wanted to have a look at buchanan, as schneider more than earnt his spot for next year.

Mitchell is a good pick up Lizz. You have probably noticed how good the kid is at clearances from ball ups, probably the best youngster at it in the comp almost.
He has been labelled the Blonde Greg Williams, and it may prove not to far off the mark.

Ball who ? Goddard ? Your right Lizz these two have gone right off the boil.
From what I have heard from Freo supporters, Polak is a much, much better player than what we saw on sunday.
It looks like Schnieder may just be a chance, as imo he has been as consistent as any of those players - i.e dozen possys and a couple of goals a week.
