Round 17 - Ladder Goalkicking and Stats

    They're now up - http://redandwhiteonline.com/content.../statshome.php

Something that I found interesting looking through today's record was that we have used 30 players this season, the least of any team this season. I guess its an indication of the disruption or lack thereof that injuries have caused to our line-up from week to week. Its something that I wouldn't have expected at the start of the season given the statements about youth etc, but our results caused that attitude to change several weeks back.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

One thing that stands out from the stats this week is how low our tackle count was. That must be the least we've had for a couple of seasons now. Usually we're up around the 50+ mark.

Definitely gives them something to think about, because along with the rebound from half-back and goal-kicking accuracy, the attack on the man has been one of the main features of our season thus far. They can't afford to drop off now!

Just putting up the adage of a high tackle count means you're often second to the ball. Does this mean we were just first to the ball alot today, or was the intensity not there? I'm really not sure on today's performance really....

I don't really buy that one. Our tackle count has been consistently high - apart from the odd week - even when we've been blisting teams, especially in the second half of last season.

The intensity dropped at half time last week and wasn't really there at all today.
