    Sun is still shining

For all those fellow fans out there who are still hurting, hang in there. The loss stings, not just for one reason but for hundreds with Carey seeming to be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I am immune from being too down because I have already hit my lowest ebb - twice.

It took me until February 1997 to stop thinking about the Grand Final loss every five minutes. I was at the game and it was a tough loss to endure.

But for me, rock bottom was Round 19, 2001 against Essendon at the Telstra Dome. We played so bravely and so courageously. Kel kicked into Caracella on 3/4 time and it was all downhill from there. I don't think I will ever endure a more agonising loss. To be the dead carcass over which the Bomber fans were rejoicing, rejoicing a win where they were only in front for the last kick of the game - and to be the victims of Alessio - that was way too much to endure. This was nothing compared to that game.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that as I get older and maybe ever more wiser, I'm getting less emotional from the game, regardless of the result. I appreciate the contest and the celebration of the game. The way the players fight for the jumper.
Only 10 years ago, we had nothing. Whether we won or not meant nothing because finals was basically fantasy. Now we are competitive week-in, week-out. That is fantastic, considering where we were for so long.

Ultimately a loss is a loss is a loss. Nothing will ever change that.
We played great footy and in the process gained the respect of the football world. We didn't yield four points for our efforts, but no one can tell me that we did not emerge winners.

Good so I'm not the only one who thinks this.

Also I have put down Essendon Round 3 1999 and St Kilda Round 5 last season.
    Once was, now elsewhere

Same for me as well, the only game that I have ever cried at, on poor Des's shoulder as well

The other memorable game was in either 85 or 86 loosing to Richmond at the SCG by 1 point, horrible that was.

I was at that Essendon game and felt the same. Dismal. The friendly Essendon fans who shared their chips with me shook hands with me on the siren and said,'Great game, wasn't it?'
But yesterday's effort was a great game by our blokes.

Do I remember that loss to the bombers??

I loss 150 bucks bond in a house i was sharing.

I kicked the wall so bloody hard i cracked it. Mind you I had steel caps boots on.

I am more relaxed these days but yesterday I was hurting but in a proud way. I am against honorable losses but yesterday that went out the window.

          Well done boys.

That 2001 loss to the Bombers hurt on the afternoon and then it really hurt because we did not bounce back from that game/loss until Roosy took over as senior coach some 15 odd games later IMO.

We were playing with a false momentum and that killed it, then we lost Stoney's little fella, had a token win against the Saints and struggled from there till Rocket, Schwatta and Plugger (again) left.

            But ALAS!

This is a completely different unit. We are the feel good team of the season and more than that, the rest of the comp can see that we are setting the scene for even greater things to come this season and next.

We have a coach loaded with credibility and a team harmony brimming with energy and focus.

I remember that weekend in 2001 really well. I took my best friend (who is a mad Essendon supporter) to the game and she made my life hell for the rest of the week. I was crying on the tram home and she tried to console me that it was JUST A GAME! Of course it didn't help. Then on the Monday, she made sure to tell me at least once every five minutes that Essendon won the game because of pure skill and there was no luck involved whatsoever. I completely agree with TheHood that we started going downhill. This weekend I sobbed but then I realised how proud I was of the boys, which made me much happier.

The sun is shining alright and should continue to shine for some time to come.

When it comes to footy I have'nt been this happy for years. I have stopped pinching myself to see if all this is real, cause this year certainly is real. Never felt so optimistic.

Really looking forward to the finals, the next few weeks will be great. I hope we smash the hawks by 50 on sunday after our team of the century psych up.

Yeah, I'm annoyed by the loss on the weekend...but some good things came out of it..not least the Sydney Morning Herald taking the umpires to task.....

It's been a great year so far, and there are many highlights to come...

The heritage game will be great! We have lots of new supporters, we have a very talented team, and lots of potential for the rest of the year and the future...

I am sooooo looking forward to the anti Eddie chants at the stadium...I'm already warming up my voice...

And if anybody knows where to get those groovy, " I hate Collingwood badges" ( I saw some lions fans wearing them at the SCG) please drop me a line...

I couldn't agree more. Essendon had no right to win that game..all they had left was some sort of belief that even though they were beaten on the day they were still a team of superstars. It was enough to get them over the line (and again in 2002).

Well if this a thread about Swans lowlights nothing for me compares to the 26 game losing streak in the early 90s. The 1987 final series when we got thrashed in both games was really depressing too. A game against St Kilda in 94 when we threw away a 49 point lead in the last quarter, I'm getting depressed just typing this stuff

As for the Adelaide game, I was quite composed throughout. At half-time I was just hoping we wouldn't be beaten by more than 30 points, so I was pleased they fought back into it. The only lowlight this season was the Hawthorn loss, even the Kangaroos loss was one we were due. Other than that it has been highlight after highlight with the occasional defeat against better opponents.

                            Jeez that Bombers game.

We were in Thredbo for the weekend. We finished skiing early to watch the match...the whole match.

Then faced a 6 hour drive back to Sydney.

I must admit the first ever Telstra stadium game also left a very bitter taste in my mouth.....and Collingwood Rd 4 2000.......and....and...and

Serioulsy, I'm over Sunday. Can't wait until Saturday
