I don't think Cliff was claiming Goodes has perfect disposal, just pointing out that in isolation looking at his mistakes is simplistic. And as Red and a couple of others have pointed out, he worked so damn hard last night (and in recent weeks as well) that he must have been exhausted by the end. Like it or not, that will lead to more errors.

Perhaps another factor is that with so few of his team mates willing to work hard off the ball yesterday to create space and run, Goodes was forced into trying to create something out of nothing, and that that was another factor that caused him to make some mistakes.

From everything I've seen of Goodes I really don't buy this "hero" business - unless you mean he runs himself into the ground week after week in an attempt to get his team over the line. I don't think Goodes is the perfect footballer (yet!) but surely there must be more worthy targets of people's frustration and anger about last night??

So goodes was tired in the 1st qrt was he?

He has a poor kick and has had one since he made his debut. All he needs to do is be clean with his disposal and not be too cute.

Saying that its a simple problem that can fixed.

          Give Goodsey a break everyone....

Look to Stevens, Mathews, Fosdike and Saddington before getting into our best player.

Goodes needs help is all. When he is freed up to just run with the ball and cause havoc, he can do a lot of damage (mostly to the opposition, that is). Stick him in a KP though, or give him the rucking to do all day, and he will struggle 9 games out of 10.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I thought I heard them say he'd be back for the Collingwood game. They said they had hoped for this weekend, but he wasn't ready. He said to me before the match on saturday that he'd come back through reserves.
