I'm revising my prefered finish position, as the AFL has changed the MCG banking rule, which we hope to exploit.
We are all set for a 4th place finish by round 22. That beating the pies at home and the D's, and heopfully getting Doyle a senior game or two in there.
4th is critical, as it guarantees a home final in week two, or a rest, when finals are still decided by the higher team. Having no melbourne teams above us is also criticial do we dont play them in a prelim at the MCG, and that basically comes down to Collingwood, which we should beat next week.
The finals will then pan out like this.
Week 1: Play Port at Adelaide and probably loose.
Week 2: Play a perth or melbourne team in Sydney. Win.
Week 3: If results go as expected, we will be in the lesser preliminary.. at the MCG.... against Adelaide or Brisbane. MCG would offer us significant home ground advantage I think. Tight, but win possible.
Week 4: Grand final again at the MCG against an interstate side, hopefully Port who will choke.
I'm sure you will agree, not a bad run at a flag. One home win, and two (sort-of home) wins required.
