The others are no better. McVeigh isn't worth ONE of Saddington, O'Keefe or Barry... let alone picks as well!

Come again, Dons. When you're planning on talking business. None of this Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds stuff.
I don't particularly want McVeigh, nor do I want to lose Bolton.

However, this time a year ago, some posters on this board couldn't give Bolton away fast enough. "hack"; "never gonna be a premiership player"; "shocking skills" etc etc. Now he's apparently too good to be mentioned in the same breath as McVeigh, a player who was taken almost immediately after him in the same draft. Something doesn't quite add up.

I stress again that there's no way I'd contemplate swapping the two - but its not such a far fetched idea as some are making out.

On the other hand, the idea of O'Keefe AND a first round pick for McVeigh are amusing. Given what Davis and Woewodin were traded for last year, its almost inconceivable that any club would consider giving up just a first round pick now for McVeigh (unless it was right at the end of the round) given he's not the cream of the crop and is not KPP. Let alone another solid young player. And again, given the relative currency of taller players, if we were to Saddo for him I'd have thought the 2nd round pick would be more likely to be coming in our direction.

McVeigh is contracted till the end of 2004 at Essenscum so if he is to end up a Swan in 2004 the Bummers hold the cards (not a Nick Davis situation this one)

Only if the Swans particularly want him - and I'm not sure why they would be desparate given the type of player he is (ie build, position played etc).

Strong defenders and an inside midfielder or two are probably top requirements.

A second rnd pick would be too high a price.

A year ago Bolton had actually shown some previous form in the AFL and dropped off. McVeigh has never really shown anything.

No much of a player - I wouldn't really bother as he is not a 'type' we need - we have plenty like him.

Just imagine the suicides amongst braindead little Bomber bimbos if he left?

Could be a plus us picking him up, thin out the ranks of the red and black filth

            O'Keefe is untouchable IMHO btw

McVeigh = DUD = 3rd round pick at best

I'm not sure Having Mcveigh SNR on the list would be good for JR's development early on.

there is another young Bomber left footer who I'd take before
                McVeigh

Ramanaskaus - he is a gun.

                Lloyd would be untouchable

Good player IMO. young, pace, skills, tough and versitile.

However, Jarrod will be way better from what i've been hearing.
That says it all. The supporters are usually pretty spot on, particularly to a man.

Don't know what his role is but he most of the time seems to be second to the ball, and only hard when he has the drop on someone. By the way watch how he drops the knees when coming in late on a tackle or to "make a pack".

Not for mine. I would suggest that in a short time at our club we would be quickly gettig stuck into him. Also has low average stats and he is no stopper like our Captain Kirk.

No, I am sorry a Sadds / McVeigh trade would suit Essendon NOT Sydney, but why swap an (albeit) softer key position player for a middle ranking small. We have an abundance of good to very good smalls, we need a heavyweight defender and McVeigh as a possible Cressa no way!

Gee... once you make a call, are you duty bound to stick with it for the player's entire career or something?

I was one of those who didn't think Jude had what it took... Jude has improved 10 times over since then, and I'm acknowledging that, as are the rest of us.

I reckon it's out of Jude and Goodes for our next captain.

                            No.

But it does mean that for the rest of your life you'll be known as the bloke who wanted to trade Jude Bolton!

Thing is though, he hasn't (IMO). The signs were already there for anyone willing to look. He's made some subtle improvments in a couple of areas, his confidence is up and the impact on his overall game is noticeable. I'm pleased by what Bolton has achieved this year - but while it was far from inevitable, I am not in the least bit surprised.
