sorry Diego, I thought I saw Jules with it. Mustn't have cleaned the specs properly. If that's the case maybe I misread the scoreboard too ????? well a girl can dream can't she?

haha no big deal..i am glad nobody saw me making a goose of myself with the drum in the last qrt.

I'll tell you what..I had this middle aged Collingwood supporterb two rows up just stare at me. He kept muttering stuff at me at one point I honestly read his lips which said "i'm gonna kill you maggot".

Even when I had my back turned i could feel him just stare at me.

      If looks could kill!

You know I taped the replay this morning. Me thinks me's going to have a look to see if I can see someone running up and down in the last quarter with the drum. haha

Not up and down the aisle i meant the aisle where all the empy seats were behind Julian.

You would have noticed some nut running up and down the aisles with a drum.

I have tried to watch the reply..and decided to only watch the last qrt..I can't believe that joffa guy is a footy celeb. The commentators kept asking when he would wear the gold jacket.

          Bloody aweful chap that joffa.

That is simply because the drum is not allowed in at the SCG.

Several RWO listees went feral when I said I was going to bring a drum to the footy. One even said that it "wasn't footy".

My attitude is that the concept of footy culture is not set in concrete. And that sometimes we can learn from other sports (the drum is actually a Northern Spirit drum that we use at NSL matches).

It pleases me no end that people are really starting to get behind the drumming. The chanting at Carlton and last night as a result of the drumming was excellent.

Hopefully one day I'll be able to get it into the SCG. I think it would work very very well there too.

I had my night runied by theatregoers.

There were 3 middle aged (2 women and a man directly behind us in Bay 107). Early in the game as the play went down our wing towards the Collingwood goal along the boundary line, The ball was momentarily out of our sight, a few of us stood up to see better.

The abuse started at that point. "Sit down you dope" was the first call. Every time the Swans scored a goal and we jumped out of our seats, we copped the same. It got pretty nasty at one point, when I reminded them we weren't at the @@@@ing opera house.

                The exchanges continued all night.

I'm interested in others opinions, should I be seated throughout the game if others behind me ask (abuse) me to ?

I'd have thought it a physical impossibility to stay seated throughout a game if you're actually taking any interest in it. I leap to my feet pretty much as a reflex action every time the Swans score a goal - and when things are bad, it happens everytime the ball goes within 20m of the forward line.

The problem is that if you stand up they can't see, and they've paid their money too. I do have some sympathy with their point of view. However, when you score a goal, I think there should be some leniency.

Although our view is generally better at Stade Oz, being slightly more elevated, it is harder to see what's going on to the left of us. If we stood up to see, then a whole bunch of people would need to do so to, with the result being us all in the same position and cross at each other.

I think it's OK to stand up, provided you don't stay standing for like 15 seconds, when the play is still going on so that people can't see what's happening. It's just a matter of whether you're obstructing people's views for extended periods rather than just momentarily IMHO.

When goals are kicked, who cares if you stand up? What are they going to miss - the choreogrpahy of the ball being run back to the centre - one boundary ump taking it to about the 50, handing it over to the other while then moving to the corner of the square, the 2nd ump running through the square to give the ball to the officiating field ump, and then moving on to the diagonally opposite corner of the centre square.

Seen it once, seen it every time....

                      I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

that's my only real gripe about SA, that wing bart and bron are referring to. We can not see the boundary line seated so everyone stands up when play goes down there. I now just look to the big screen.

But as long as you're not standing for long periods and it's just out of reaction, then go for it. I'm in and out of my seat all night, it's part of the game as Lizz said.

as Bart said it's not the opera, it's a footy match.

I usually cop that every week mate.

I'm actually surprised that a part-timer hasn't complained about us waving the flags behind the goals when the opposition are shooting at goal. One complaint from one of them and security goes down on us like a ton of bricks.

That is what is so frustrating in Sydney. In Melbourne if you chose to sit behind the goals, you KNOW that there will be flags flapping around left right & centre. Here people don't know a) what you are doing and b) why, so they whinge.

And hence something that is traditional is wrecked.

I once dressed up as Santa Claus for the match. A nob who had been in a corporate box who had gotten into the after-match had a go at me, saying I was an embarrassment. I nearly hit him, but the corporate bitch who was talking over the announcer would have given me a tongue-lashing.

There was a girl sitting in the next bay to the Cheer Squad in her Swans guernsey and scarf. She was looking at me like I was from Mars, generally with this slighty bemused expression on her face. We got some singing going in the 3rd quarter and she had this "get me away from these freaks" She did not join in with the chanting ONCE all night.

And she was not the only person in my vicinity acting like that on Saturday.

i thought that cheer was great too, i think it was the 3rd quarter when it really caught on and the other side of the ground caught on before we did and sounded great with it coming back at us! then it hit our side... have we found a new permanent chant?

i thought it was a terrific atmosphere! BTW, i didnt hear the pie supporters chanting when they werent scoring... what makes it different with sydney... i also liked it when the pies supporters started their chant and they got drowned out...
