The pub has Carlton I think, I certainly had a Carlton Black there last time, I am not really a draught beer drinker, Billy Bells was great after the Carlton game, they have been working on the pub a bit lately and have opened up a couple of bars more, it is thus more conducive to a crowd like the ?after match?. It is good venue and they are supportive of Bloods fans, was Billy Bell or any of the family involved with South as players? Historians, update us!

I'm probably a 90% chance of going along.

gday (Im a long time reader but never poster - yeah, one of those!!)
I was wondering if the Alexandria would be a good place to watch our final against port. Are there normally lots of swans supporters, big screens, audible commertry from the tvs etc?
If anyone has any info that would be great. I might have to rope a few mates into watching the game there.
Are there any other good pubs around sydney to watch swans away matches?

It was a good afternoon. An older style pub. We were in the main bar with a big screen and 2 TVs. Easy to see the game. Everyone was a swans supporters, we yelled, we cheered. Food was good (not great), good coffees, good grog. They ran a pick the margin comp and a lucky door prize. Outside was a nice beer garden where we sat until just before the game. I reckon that there were 30 - 40 people there.

I'm sure it will be done again for the final (but I will be in SA).

The plans are to put up a really big screen outside on the wall of the building next door for next year and to have a big night for night games. It's quite nice outside and this will be a real attraction I reckon.

JS, I didn't notice any smoke (and I hate it).

Worth going to for the final, big screen and with other cheerers. We all sang the song at the end and were happy.

The pub is an old inner city venue that is crying out for renovation. It?s obviously an old six-o?clock-swill pub in what was an industrial area that is now becoming somewhat ?gentrified?. The main bar area, where the footy is shown is a light, airy space and I (a non-smoker) wasn?t bothered by cigarette smoke at all during the afternoon.

There is a very large, projection TV over the bar and a couple of normal sized monitors at either side of the bar. The projection TV image was reasonably clear, if a little ?washed out?, because the natural daylight in the bar area is quite bright. We never ate at the pub but the food looked OK; steak sangers, nachos, fish & chips etc at about $5 ? 8 a serve.

The bar staff wore Swans TOTC t-shirts, and organized a pick-the-margin sweep at $2 per selection and lucky door prizes of T-Shirts, miniature footys, ?Cygnatious? dolls etc. The 30 ? 40 supporters were very vocal in their barracking; the atmosphere was very much like being at the ground at times. Everyone was good-natured and no one got hassled or upset at anyone.

The Alexandria is certainly not a 5 star establishment, some people would probably describe the place as a ?bit grotty? but we had a fun afternoon watching the footy and sinking a few quiet ales along with like-minded Swans fans. I?d certainly go along the The Alex again to watch the footy; we really enjoyed the afternoon.

sounds like the place to be on sunday arvo (apart from footy park of course!!!).
Where is it exactly? - think i will have to rope in a few mates to make a day of it.

Go along. Harry is trying to get a real venue for swans supporters for away games. Out from the garden there is a big building next door and he is trying to get a really big screen for night games - is also thinking of doing movies during the week.

Whilst it's not the most glam of venues, the atmosphere was really good. There's more food than was mentioned, we had squid, john dory, and other stuff, this was a little more expensive and a very generous serving.

It's was truly a place to be a swan and I agree with bricon that it had moments of like being at the game. I'm sure it will be on again this sunday, but I'll be at the real deal this week.
