who would you prefer, Solomon or McVeigh

IN my opinion, Solomon would be the one to choose because he can fill in the big hole in the backline (he is out of contract at the end of the season.

Dean Solomon could be our new Bernard Toohey! This is what we need a hard backman, he could really fire up the rest of them, we can only dream of getting this bloke, they can keep the lesser Mc Veigh?.

Oh No! bring Mark back home and see how well he plays...But only if he dyes his hair back to the blonde..

But seriously...I vote for the young player with a bit of aggro..McVeigh has demonstrated that he can handle the physical stuff...as he did when he clobbered somebody on the weekend..

I think we need somebody like that..

I'd go for McVeigh. Midfield is our problem area, not the back line.

He could gell with his brother to form a Krakour (sp?) like partnership!

Guys sorry must disagree, we need toughness in backline, midfielders we have some old, middling, new and emerging, tough defenders?.zilch, good runners but NOT tough ones.

I was reading that Danny Jacobs might be on the move at the end of the year - would actually prefer him over the other two, simply becuase he is a KP defender.

McVeigh, strewth he has the same tactics as Holland. A sniper and in with the knees late on a pack.

Would not give him the steam off my s***.

Solomon for mine is hard but fair.

                i LOVE silly season!!!

personally id prefer soloman (out of him and mcveigh), as mcveigh is pretty much a backman these days anyway and soloman is the better player...

as for the toughness in the backline, i think youre forgetting something, LEAPIN LEO!!!

a few things i didnt realise:

                  1. solomon is actually 188cm
                  2. mcveigh is only a year younger than solomon (23)
                  3. jacobs is the same size as solomon except solomon is 8kg heavier

i thought solomon was about 27 and about 182cm, i thought jacobs was a lot taller as well...

i think there would be a lot more talent available at season's end apart from these three!

neither they both have a big injury history, what about scott lucas who is tipped to get centre half back in all aussie team, and the bombers have made it known they want to trade him

                        From today's Herald-Sun

"Solomon and Jacobs head a long list of out-of-contract players at Windy Hill, a fact not lost on rival clubs, who have begun circling. Solomon, in particular, is a target.

Others yet to commit to the Bombers include centre half-back Scott Lucas, David Hille, Mark Johnson, Joe Misiti, Dean Rioli, Mark McVeigh and Mark Bolton.

The drawn-out negotiations with full-forward Matthew Lloyd, which were finalised last week, have been seen as the reason behind the Bombers' inability to lock away other key players.

Michael Quinlan, of Top Dog Management, said Solomon and Jacobs were a long way off re-signing.

"We are poles apart at the moment, so I have told the club we are taking negotiations off the table," he said. "

Out of that group, I would think that Mark Bolton (tall defender/backup ruckman) and Danny Jacobs (proven mobile fullback) would slot straight into the existing Swans format, and would probably be among the more likely trade 'candidates' out of that group if the salary cap is really biting again at Essendon.

Mark Johnson is just the sort of in-and-under 'thug' that we sorely need, but I think the Bombers would be insane to let him go.

Solomon is exactly the type of player we need.He has PHYSICAL PRESENCE[/B] and heaps of talent.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

We wouldn't get him in a month of Sundays - he'll stay at the Bombers, I'm sure - but wouldn't mind Scott Lucas at all. Has become a great CHB this year, is big and strong, and can "do a Leppitsch" and go forward if needs be. Saw him on TF last night and he came across as a very thoughtful guy.

I'm with you Lizz. Probably among the pick of the Bombers.

But I'd pick Solomon over McVeigh.
