If we make the Grand Final, those of us who are Cheer Squad members and Redback members are going to be there, while it will be a cat fight for whatever tickets are remaining.
BTW we'll get more than 5000 tickets for it.
For the finals themselves, I'll go whereever the club goes except for Perth. So at this stage we look like playing in Sydney or Adelaide in the first week if we win, with a slight chance we'll play in Melbourne or even Brisbane, but thats unlikely.
If we finish 5th and West Coast 4th, Perth in the 2nd Week is on.Once was, now elsewhereComment

In addition to the possibilities outlined by Dave, Sydney can also finish 2nd and Play Collingwood at SA
a) Essendon to thrash Collingwood so that Collingwood's % takes a beating (side effect: Essendon get a % boost)
b) Sydney to thrash Melbourne and get their percentage above both Collingwood and Essendon
c) Bulldogs to beat Brisbane
d) Fremantle to beat West Coast
e) Port Adelaide to beat Adelaide
I've ruled out Brisbane losing as an option. I also give Sydney next to no chance of overtaking Collingwood on percentage.
or finish 3rd and play either Brisbane, Colingwood, Essendon or WestCoast at their home grounds.
You'll just have to wait JFComment

Essendon would need to beat Eddiewood by about 80 points tomorrow night to pass them on percentage. Sydney would then have to win by about 70 on Saturday to get ahead of Essendon.
I'm down in Melbourne now and will be attending both games, but I think they'll be a bit closer than that.

My humble opinion 90% chance of playing Freo, Essendon or Weagles at SA, 10% chance of playing Port at AAMI.
Nice sideline Col-lying-wankers-wood very likely to play Brisbane in Melbne first week .......and get belted in more ways than one!Sports do not build character. They reveal it....Heywood Broun
I always turn to the sports pages first, which record people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures......Earl WarrenComment

I'd say 60% chance of staying 5th or 6th (doesnt really matter), and 40% chance of 4th.
In every round there are about 2 upsets (Games where favourite doesnt win), and we only need one to get to 4th.
I'm quietly confident.
Only once in the last 5 years (2001) have a team on 14 wins not finished top 4.Comment

Maybe JF can confirm this
The club limits each CS in Melb and Syd to 150 members so that come Grand Final time no one misses out. This year the CS allcation has been slightly cut to as I said above 250, down from 300 in past years.
Add to the fact not every CS member in Sydney will come (most will, some might not be able to) and that both CS didn't sell out, I'm pretty confidant that all CS members who want tickets will get them.
BTW those of you who are CS members in Melbourne, did you get the letter today re Finals tickets?????Last edited by robbieando; 28 August 2003, 02:43 PM.Once was, now elsewhereComment

Not anymore. A few years back the AFL decided to make AFL members entitled to free Grand Final tickets in the past book for them at least 2 weeks in advance and pay a fee of I think $20.
If I was you I would ring the AFL members hotlineOnce was, now elsewhereComment

That leaves the next questions, for members how is the ticketing for SA going to work, particularly for the non-reserved members. Will members get first access to their usual seating for e.g.????
An information page will be published in this friday's Daily Telegraph. The key points are:
Swans members will have first priority to purchase Sydney Finals tickets on the monday and friday of the week preceding the game. Members with reserved seats will not have automatic access to their normal allocated seats. Members can purchase unlimited additional tickets for non-Member friends and family when purchasing your own tickets.
Redback members - premium seating guaranteed, must contact swans office, special seating area for Redbacks only, i.e. no guests.
Cheer squad members - contact Cathy marney to purchase your allocation. Seating area for cheer squad members only.
Booking info for Telstra Stadium listed, including prices.
Same sort of stuff applies for an interstate final.
There's more stuff in the ad, but this is the main stuff and I'm sick of typing.Dream, believe, achieve!Comment
