Powell will be good but he really has to bulk up. I hope he is not another Saddington who refuses to grow muscle.

Sundqvist is going to be a good player IMO. He will play HFF or HBF for a couple of years and can then really prosper into a good midfielder.

Hopefully Sundqvist canturn himself into a N.Lappin- I'm sure that's the plan.

In terms of having too many skinny key defenders I don't think it's going to be amajor problem going forward - the power forwards of the recent past (eg. Lockett, Dunstall,Carey, Lynch) are a (rapidly) dying breed. Hence the need for 'gorillas' like Kelly, Martyn, Dunkley etc will decrease.

Almost all of the key forwards in the comp other then Carey, Lynch and J.Brown use their athleticism and skill just as much, if not more, than their strength.

Meiklejohn seems to be able to get his hand to the ball enough (especially in the Brisbane game) - once he learns where to direct it hopefully he will becomes a McDonald or Brogan.

Everytime he touches the ball, I'm amazed.
He should have got goal of the week! That goal against the Colliwobbles was fantastic!

I was surprised when he had his 1st game back at the SCG this year how big he is now. He is not as small as you think!

                    1) Kelly wasn't a gorilla.
                    2) Put a skinny guy on some of the modern forwards (eg BBBBH) and watch what happens.

I think Schneider should stick with his number, he can be the one that makes it great! But if he is going to get another number, it should be for next year - which numbers will be up for grabs? Could he get 8? (I hope it won't be available).

Has 14 been retired for a specific time-frame?

I don't think the no. 14 has been retired for a specific time-frame, there just hasn't been anybody to give it to. I think that you will always need so called "gorillas" in a footy team because there will always be the forward (like Barry Hall) that can still push around smaller opposition while not completely being full forwards.

I suspect Steve was referring to a Kelly of the Craig variety (ex-Pies player), not the Paul variety.
