Why would anyone give us a "really good up and coming young ruckman or tall defender" for either Meiklejohn or Stevens? If these two don't fit into that category themselves, we won't get that in return. And if they do we might as well keep them.

        Not logical, I'm afraid.

"the other mans grass is always greener"

In that later few Eade years Sydney picked up heaps of "project" players. Sundqvist, Hunt, Powell, Stevens, LRT, we need to be patient with those guys because on the whole they do not have the bodies to play at AFL yet - Stevens is still 86KGs (up from 71KGs when he arrived), he will nee to get to 94KGs to be seriously competitive.

That said he needs to improve his second efforts and work off the ball because it is awful.

I have no idea what people see in Buchanan.

I would put Meiklejohn on the Rookie list again - he needs a lot of development to become a senior player. Would be a grave mistake by Sydney not to draft a developing Ruckman for when Ball retires, and in case Doyle is injured on an ongoing basis.

McVeigh could turn out to be a good player but we may end up regretting not taking Salopek - we desparately need a ground level ball winner.

Unsavoury topic, but I would think that the players in trouble would be Mcpherson, Warfe, Seymour, Nicks, Buchanan, Ablett and that Cresswell will most likely retire.

I suspect Sydney will end up trading one ot two guys that they feel they have depth of.

if only we took coughlan thats what i really regret about ablett...

i dont think he'll stay, on the pure basis, that there arent enough spots an he really hasnt shown it...

JM back to the rookie list would be a good option...

I definitely think Meiklejohn should go back to the rookie list. Although he has done a few good things, he has a long way to go before he'll be consistently up to AFL level ruck work. And remember last year when everyone though Ricky Mott had done enough to stay on the list. I reckon MJ has not even done as much as Ricky. Therefore back to the rookie list he goes.

As for Ablett, who knows. He is clearly not in the planning for this season, despite his good performances in the 2's. He hasnt been named an emergency for many many weeks now. Seymour came into the 1's quite quickly after returning from injury, and Sunny was the late replacement yesterday. Even Nicks continues to be named as an emergency.

I think Ablett has certainly been added to the pile along with Frosty, and Stevens. We have to delist 4 players IIRC, so there are my pick for 3 of them. If Cressa retires, then problem solved, and guys like Amon and Fixter who struggled with injury will be given another go.

I'm with you on this, if his name wasn't Ablett we wouldn't even be discussing him.
