      Quotes ..... (close anyway)

"It's a big month coming up for that man there, Eddie Maguire, .... oh and all the other clubs too"

LRT (Round 18 nominee) "Once I started Aussie Rules, I just really enjoyed it, more than I enjoyed my rugby, even though all my mates were playing rugby ..... Aussie Rules is a much better game, much more skilful"

It only goes until 2pm I thought, after the break they announce the winner and then they'll reveal the 5 votes.

Schneiderman won't win, the others are too far ahead.

Sadly the Schneiderman has received his votes from most of the judges. Mitchell has it in the bag.

                      After final votes ....

                      33 - Sam Mitchell
                      26 - Graham Polak
                      17 - Luke Ball
                      11 - Daniel Wells
                      8 - Adam Schneider

                      rest as before

I reckon Schneiderman was hard done by ... never mind if we can sneak in under their guard through the finals, it will be to our advantage.

Three of them actually didn't give Schneiderman a vote. Never mind, when he wears a premiership medallion, THAT will be better!

Dumb question Schneider didn't pick up one vote from the 2nd lot of voting till the end?

Didn't surprise me Sam won he had a fantastic back half of the season.

Sam Mitchell was a Week 1 nominee which shows that the voters don't mess around.

Although you wouldn't be feeling so flash if you were Matthew Lokan or Ashley McGrath - joint nominees? Sounds like being invited to a party in the second round of invites. Not such a good feeling.

Here are the past winners and the week they were nominated.

                                1993 - Nathan Buckley - Wk 7
1994 - Chris Scott - Wk 7 (Winner Corey McKernan was ineligble due to suspension was nominated Wk 2)
                                1995 - Nick Holland - Wk 4
                                1996 - Ben Cousins - Wk 12
                                1997 - Michael Wilson - Wk 4
                                1998 - Byron Pickett - Wk 3
                                1999 - Adam Goodes - Wk 2
                                2000 - Paul Hasleby - Wk 1
                                2001 - Justin Koschitzke - Wk 14
                                2002 - Nick Riewoldt - Wk 5
                                2003 - Sam Mitchell - Wk 1

So more often than not, the winner has been nominated by Round 8.

But on the point of Adam Schneider, we have who is deemed the fifth best young player in the country - that is fantastic and hopefully now he can be a bit of a mentor for all the new younger kids and assume a leadership position of some sorts.

Although it seems clear with players like Mitchell and Woewodin before him that players on the rookie list who are prepared to work their butt off, usually prove to be fantastic players.
