    Leppitsch to face tribunal ?

BTW very suprised to see Jeff Gieschen comment like this before review on Monday

    Leppitsch faces nervous wait

Three-time All-Australian defender Justin Leppitsch could have an especially nervous wait before his side meets Sydney in a preliminary final, after AFL umpires boss Jeff Gieschen suggested a collision with Adelaide?s Brett Burton would be scrutinised by the umpires.

Gieschen described Leppitsch?s contact as ?unnecessary?, and said he was surprised it had not sparked comment from the Channel 10 commentary team during the match broadcast.

Leppitsch appeared to drop his knee into Burton during the third quarter of the Lions? 42-point semi-final victory at the Gabba. The video review of matches is done on Mondays after matches by the respective game day umpires, who can chose to lay reports.

?I couldn?t believe watching the broadcast last night that there wasn?t any comment made about the dropping of the knees by Justin Leppitsch into Burton,? Gieschen said on Melbourne radio station 3AW on Saturday.

?I don?t know about it being a deliberate action, it looked an unnecessary action, and certainly it will be something that may get reviewed this week.?

Asked whether he would call Leppitsch to answer for the incident, Gieschen was comparatively coy, before adding that the collision looked worse when replayed in slow motion.

?I would like to look at a few more angles, because I watched it very quickly on the television last night,? he said.

Dual premiership player Leppitsch won his third All-Australian guernsey this year, and is an integral part of the Lions? line-up, particularly due to his capabilities in defence or attack.

I actually noticed that bit of play.
I was surprised nothing came of it at the time. Not even a warning for the big boofhead. Burton took the mark and Leppitsch came in with a knee fair in the back. You could see Burton grimace as it happens. Totally unnecassary.

    Hope he gets a week.

Saw it as well - there have been a few lately that have gon un-noticed.

Considering that the Scott's are having fitness problems, he would be a huge loss for them.

Gieschen nominating it is interesting - I doubt he will go at the tribunal

Given his history against us you gotta hope he goes but.......

given the things that have been let go this year (Tarrants sniper punch against a Bombers a few weeks back comes to mind) it will be rediculous if he does.

Probably worth 50 but nothing more.

So is that a diplomatic way of saying "I can't believe the umps didn't award a 50m penalty"?

I am not absolutely sure - but also thought Leppitsch was hurt towards the end of the game. I have only seen bits of the game.

                Lade should go as well.

I remember thinking that Leppitsch had angled his knee to make sure he caught Burton in the middle of the back.

                They won't though

We thought Luke Power would go for striking ... about 20 mins into the first quarter ... looked much worse than the Leppitsch knee incident, but there's been no comment that I can see.

I didn't think that the kneeing warranted reporting when I saw it at the time. It was very clumsy play. One can only hope though. Ashcroft won't be playing and they couldn't afford to lose anymore.

At least the Swans don't have to sweat on a video review this week. I'm sure they will pick up any offences because collingwood wasn't involved.

Lions were good but I wonder how much they will be affected by the heat. The Crows were puffing seriously and even some of the Lions looked a bit heat stressed at the huddles.

I want Leppa to play. I know he's a great player and has killed us in the past by moving forward, but we're at the business end of the season now and to be worthy premiers you have to beat other strong teams, at their best.

When we win on the 27th, they'll no doubt still be claiming we were flukey and all our opponents choked. Don't want them to also claim that we only won because our opponents were below full strength.

lizz id rather win against below strength teams than go out against them.. i dont realli care how we win aslong as we do it.

That'd be true if we were fielding Jason Ball. If Brisbane did happen to win do you think they'd credit their win to his absence? I watched the Lions Crows game at the Windsor Castle and both I and the Swans supporter alongside me were urging the two teams to go goal for goal and both end up battered at the end.

My dream is that we get up over the Lions and then face the remains of whatever team survives the Pies-Port clash - hopefully its Port and this time we either win through merit (like last time) or they choke.

No. Don't agree. I think Leppa not playing improves our chances. Do you think no O'Louhlin, Ball or Saddo will detract Collingwood's plaudits if they beat us in the GF.

Gotta take some luck if we get it.

I'm sure Adelaide supporters would rather Voss not have played.

Sorry Lizz can't agree either. Injuries and reports are part of finals.

Other than Collingwood the other two sides remaining are left with injury or tribunal concerns.

That's finals - they wouldn't be concerned beating us minus players
