Umpires for Saturday

I think Goldspink is one of the worst umpires in AFL, mainly due to his umpiring in every game, and not just Sydney games. However, part of winning the game is to beat the umpires.

To clarify the point I was trying to make: Umpires are a necessary part of the game and some are better than others. I do believe that they do the best they can and believe it or not are human and have the same failings as us all (good days, bad days, good moods etc etc) and this will obviously impact on how they perform. Ever had the feeling that you would rather be somewhere else than at work?
Sometimes decisions go against us and we just have to accept that and sometimes they go for us. It has been known for us to get soft free kicks (we don't knock them back nor do we complain about the poor umpiring) and sometimes the umpies miss infringements against our boys (they aren't angels after all). It is all part of the rich tapestry of the game.
As Jixygirl says we have to score more goals (overall points) than the opposition regardless of the standard of the umpiring.
I agree it can be frustrating when the umpire has a big imapct on the game but C'est la vie (translation = that's life).

The most concerning trend about this year is that we aren't getting the soft ones in our forward 50 (we're worst in the league in that stat), and they still pay their fair share of softies to the opposition in their F50.

So come on they aren't that bad.

Sorry Suzi but this particularly lot are that bad, and I'm worried particularly if this game goes down to the wire.

Floppinab, you have to have faith in the boys and have some objectivity. As I said earlier stinky isn't the best umpire going around but if it comes down to an iffy decision that knocks us out then perhaps we have to ask whether we really should be there.
Not trying to be controversial it is just that we should win a game on merit and not on the whim of umpires. I'm not saying that if we get a dodgy free kick right in front of goals (as if) that got us into the GF that I wouldn't be happy and accept the win I am saying that we should be good enough to win because of the way we play.
