Thanks one and all. That's the kind of response that I was wanting. I've got no problem with heading in early on Sunday. Probably be up all night celebrating anyways.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

we most certainly wont be leaving until the boys are off the field having been sent away with us cheering and wishing them well for the following week.

As we'll have 2 young boys with us, My Sister will do the bolt as soon as they're off the field and join the queue. I'll then try and find her. We'll both then go in early Sunday and find our spot.

Are there any fellow RWO'rs out there who are going to leave the game early to queue up, who wont be buying the full 8 tickets available and would like to share their queue spot? I'd be willing to go in the next morning and purchase the tickets and deliver them. I'd need 3 tickets.

Having said that I would hope we all stayed to send the boys off with our warmest wishes for the week ahead.

Any takers please PM me so we can arrange things.

I think people dont mind queing early, just the mad rush to get these queue tickets, will be crazier than the prelim final in 96
          - Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in a world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, it's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing!

Does anyone know how other AFL club members get tickets? I'm hoping on a couple of friends who are Carlton members (poor things) to get me GF tix....Am i being too optimistic about being able to actually get tix?

They won't get tickets. The allocations the other clubs get are for internal use... but generally get hawked off and are the source of all those GF ticket competitions.

I'm shattered!! Basically now my only hope is to cross my fingers and hope i've won one of the many competitions i entered to win GF tickets!

Serves me right for not getting a membership this year but i just couldn't afford it at the time!

This is the same system that Brisbane used last year. I think Collingwood did too. I'm pretty sure I remember comments made about the exodus during the last Q. I think some people even missed the whole PF just get an early queue position.

The prelim final is unique in that it's fans of the winning team who leave early.
I remember well in 2000 at the MCG seeing hoardes of Essendon fans leaving early to bag a spot in the queue. It was just so wrong - the chance to bask in sweet revenge after flogging Carlton, but so many fans couldn't be there.

What they SHOULD be doing is handing out the queue tickets BEFORE the game starting at (say) 5pm. Arrive early in the afternoon and join the queue, get your number and go to the game. If you don't win you throw away the queue ticket (after tearing it into teeny weeny little shreds in frustration).

Although I would have 2 places open to give out the tickets at either end of the ground. One place has even numbers and the other odds. This way it would lessen the crowding at just one end of the stadium and give people up the other end of the ground an equal chance to get there quick.

This whole system sounds daft and unnecessarily complicated to me. I guess they want to stop people having to queue up all night but surely there's got to be a better way. Back in 1996, it was fantastic just standing around the ground for 10-15 minutes after the game ended, soaking up the atmosphere and trying to let it all sink in. With people dashing off to get their queue tickets, that will be taken away from us.

Glad I don't have to worry about it, but it will detract from the general atmosphere at the end.
