Some fans are too self-conscious to make fools of themselves with a bit of singing.

A few points:

- Just trying to improve/enhance the atmosphere
- Differentiate us from other teams' fans
- lift our game

I agree that we have to keep the songs simple but surely we can do better than "sydney, clap, clap, clap" - I have to confess that I have little enthusiam for that and sometimes don't join in. IMHO it is generic and I reckon the players wouldn't be able to tell whether it is "sydney" or the other team that is being sung. I don't mind the Ssssyyyyyyydddddnnnneeeeyyyyyyy" chant as it is obviously a swans song and sounds good when it resonates around the ground.
To whoever said we should go to karoake if we want to sing I would say that singing and watching football are not mutually exclusive, I manage to do both, it isn't too hard.
Robbieando, I would prefer to keep things family friendly and fun, it is OK to poke fun at the opposition but wouldn't want to incite violence (and being up to your neck in blood does seem to imply that). We also don't want to emulate the soccer fans just take what is good (in the songs) and use them to our benefit.
I think we have to get into the habit of singing/chanting at times other than when a goal has been scored. The Lynch slip would have been an ideal time to sing "we love you Schauble, we do" - to let him know we are 100% behind him. Also we should try to get into the habit of shouting "C'mon you reds" (or bloods if you prefer). We obviously all shout and barrack but if we are shouting the same things it will be more effective and create a better atmosphere.
The other (more elaborate) songs can be practiced in pubs or on the the buses on the way to/from the ground. Am I the only one who sings the club songs (cheer cheer & up there cazaly) when I am going about my chores (if I was the type of girl who did cleaning I would definitely do it then)?

Its always nice to see people who are interested in getting chanting going at Swans matches. Your always welcome to join us in the Cheer Squad so that we can get the crowd going. I don't like the Sydney clap clap clap that much as well, but sadly we have to get going with it because its the only one the fans seem interested in joining in with, sadly still not everyone does.

You really wouldn't want me to join the cheer sqad as I can't sing for quids!
I'm just trying to get some alternatives out there, giving some suggestions and offering support.
I reckon something can be done for the pre-season game at NSO and don't mind if we can co-ordinate something there. We normally sit on the grass (Think it is the Doug Walters stand)

I'm not one to go on, but....
How good was that chant of "lions, lions..." at the GF? really added to the atmosphere...much better than the usual (insert club name here) clap, clap, clap.

Sydney Clap X3 is a bit old and the same as all the others and hopefully if some education goes into our crowds all over the country then it will set us apart from the rest of the crowd so our players know the chanting is for them not the opposition
