People,
Now it is the off season we need to give some thought about our singing and chanting and come up with some strategies. We should take heed of the English soccer fans and the barmy army (obviously excluding the bad language and anything offensive). I have tried singing alternative songs during the games and either get strange looks or laughed at. We obviously have to keep it relatively simple but we can build on our repetoire as we get better. I know that the Manchester United fans post the songs on a fan's website , they include the words and then state "sung to the tune of..". They also print off the words and hand them out before the games (mainly at the pubs), it quite often starts at one section of the crowd and eventually most people join in.
If we move on from "sydney" clap, clap , clap and "ssssyyyyddddnnnneeeeyyyyyyyyy" it will set us apart from the other clubs' fans.
I have sung:
"all we are saying is give us a goal" - sung to John Lennon's give peace a chance
"we love you sydney, we do, we love you sydney we do, we love you sydney,we do, ohhhh sydney we love you" - (not sure of the name of the tune - will try to find out and advise) - any player's name can be substituted in place of Sydney - "we love you goodesy...."
I have also tried to get a chant of "come on you reds" going
I think it is worth a try.
