    Father son rule.

Does anyone know if there are any decent sons of former players who are available in the next few years.

Nice try Barry and Rob, but I think your father has to play 100 games for your club to qualify, so:

Barry will have to wait until Adam has played another 3 seasons

...and it looks like Roos kids will be heading to Brisbane as he only played 80-odd games for us.

I think that's right - the limit used to be 50 games,... anyway it will all depend what the pies want as to what the rules is.

Leigh Matthews said this about the 100-game rule:
"Instead, I'd advocate an even higher game qualification, but include some other criteria. Such as a premiership, a club championship, a club goalkicking award, or All-Australian selection. Or, just in case, a Brownlow Medal."
Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.

Very technical Undies, well said, but perhaps Eddie will change the rules by then?

Heath James was a father son pick.
I hope like hell he can keep fit.
He was groomed as Dunkleys successor but I really have no idea how he plays.

How about the Swans institute an artificial insemination program starting with the Team of the century.

Kel's boys in a few years!

Yeah it's a pity about Roosey's kids, but yes they are off to Brisbane if they are good enough.

Who knows, maybe they will add senior coaching games by that time?? IMO if Sheedy had kids that wanted to play AFL, you would think they would have more loyalty to Essendon than Richmond?

As is Sean Dempster. Can anyone provide an update on how Sean's season went?

The number of games you have coached a team also is included in the rule, but I think it is greater than 100 games combined that will allow you to qualify.

                      Does anyone know?

I was watching the highlights of the Swans v Queanb match in the ACTAFL the other day.

Saw Sean Dempster playing. He was playing from Full Back. Will be a very very good player IMO. Possibly unlucky not to get a run this year, but look out for him next season.

Thanks Mase. Does he have KPP potential? Does he look like he could fill FB or CHB within the next few years?

No. The Father and Son rule only applies to games played - not coached.

You may remember Wallace being upset about his boys not having the choice of the Bulldogs (depsite the fact his playing and coaching equalled over 100). I also remember articles re: G.Thomas' kids being unable to play for St. Kilda despite the fact he has played 60 odd games for them.

I would love the rule changed, but I certainly can't see the AFL seeing the need. It really only applies to a fairly limited few.
