If it 5 games again, someone's head WILL roll!!!

If this happens - it's the final nail in the coffin for the idea that the club cares about us.

I'm sorry if I offended any of the Perth supporters. I was thinking about the Subiaco curse and not the supporters. The supporters deserve at least one game in their home state.

I'm also a bit surprised about the venues for the games as well, especially Ess v Syd at the G and Melb v Syd at Telstra Dome. They're usually the other way around.

Well, if we are playing Brisbane in the first round, at least Jonathon Brown won't be there - he received 2 weeks for striking!

Charlie, I'd still give MBH a go. This was more than likely submitted to the AFL before he came on board. I think we should give him a chance to prove himself and back up his statements.

Yes, overall this preliminary draw doesn't look too bad. We've proven we can beat Brisbane@home and if our pre-season preparation is good we should be a real chance for this one.

Twice in Perth! Damn, I was hoping we'd make the top four again.

                Charlie, absolute bull@@@@.

We have been through this so many times it is not funny. The AFL set the draw not the Swans. We can as we have this year and previous years ask the AFL for 6 or 7 games in Melbourne but it is up to the AFL to say yes to that request.

Fact is, with Melbourne teams now playing a number of games either in neutral states or selling home games that we are not likely to ever get 7 again and 6 only in very limited years.

You will just have to learn to live with it, save your pennies and make a couple of interstate trips a year.

                DST

P.S From a playing point of veiw Sydney would be pretty pleased with that draw, not as hard as 2003 at first glance

We're playing the Pies after the 2 week break... interesting.

12 matches at home (which includes the Bulldog's home game) - some tough road trips there but hopefully we can pull some of those off.

                    BAM_BAM,

It has nothing to do with MBH, we have in the past as we have done so this year made the same request for 7 games in Melbourne.

It is the AFL that schedules the draw, all we can do is put up a wish list and from that they will work around it.

But no club gets anywhere near their wishlist

What happened to the idea that the Swans and Pies match would be the only match played during the bye? Must have been chucked out. There's no hope to get 7 matches in Melbourne ever because of the "home" games that some of the Melbourne teams have. It's just part of barracking for an interstate team. However, barracking for an interstate team is a great reason to travel!

Aren't we playing the Pies in the two week break, as part of Round 13? Our game is on the 26th, whereas all others in that round are playing on the 18th/19th/20th.

We only ever travel in consecutive weeks once, I think (from Melbourne to Perth), so that's not too bad. I'm questioning the Mebourne v Sydney at TS, however. Are there enough Melbourne fans (in Sydney or willing to make the trip) for a good showing?

Des - I'm sure that if the Kangas went to AFL headquarters and asked to play Collingwood in Canberra, they'd be laughed out the door. It's not as simple as them deciding where to play their home match - it's a request they put in that can be granted or denied.

It's up to the AFL to recognise the Melbourne Swans fanbase, and deny the request.

Which is it going to be, Charlie? Are you blaming the AFL, or the club? On one hand you're saying that clubs don't have final say on their requests for the draw. On the other hand, you're saying that if we only get 5 games, it IS the club's fault.

EVERY year we go through this. Now quit messing about and tell us how much Goodsey won the TLM by

This draw stinks! Twice to Perth, hard games the following week, first and last games away, and for Melbourne based supporters it is dreadful. Why does Brisbane get more games in Melbourne. Sydney will lose its support at games in Melbourne and that will make it much harder to win down here. And seeing they have trouble winning at home (they didn't win another game after July) it will affect their overall performance. And why do we always have to play Brisbane twice?

The strange venue choices seem to be a case of availability.

Rd 16 vs Geelong at SS - Colonial and the MCG are both in use on the Sat and Sun that w/e.

Rd 6 vs Essendon at MCG - Colonial is used on the Fri and Sat that w/e, and Essendon play the following week on the Fri night, hence a Sunday game at Colonial isn't feasible.

With so many things pre-built into the fixture before they even sit down and look at it, nowadays it seems that they've backed themselves into a corner and have to make do by fitting everyone else into the draw wherever they fit.

It's a bit of a shame we don't have more of our Melb games at Colonial - we're pretty suited to playing there.
