        Guerra now a Saint

        afl.com.au
Port Adelaide utility Brent Guerra has been traded to St Kilda in return for the Saints? third round selection at the National AFL Draft ? number 39 overall.

Guerra was one of a handful of players on Port?s list who expressed a desire to return home to Victoria after the 2003 season.

A long-kicking left footer, Guerra was a fixture in the Port line-up in 2002, but played only 14 matches this season.

Hailing from Barham up on the Murray, Guerra was drafted to Port from Bendigo in the TAC Cup and made his senior debut in 2000.

The 21 year-old can be expected to take up a role in the Saints midfield or pinch-hit down forward in 2003.

Yes you've cracked the walnut Rod.

45 was Kel's original number before he changed to 14. It is also a multiple of 9 which symbolises power in Chinese astrology.

Can't think of any other reasons for this brainwave.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

surely the blues dont have the salary cap room for stevens anyway... id love for us to pick him up just to spite the pies and hold him for ransom in next year's trade period...

a very noble move from the bulldogs to give pick 6 to the hawks even though they couldve picked up rawlings for free...

Have I got this right? The trade period is over and all we have done is trade an up and coming player who has talent and has perfomed well in defence in the finals for a No45 draft pick?

Forgive me but this sounds moronic.

Please tell me there is more to it.

I also wonder, given that Cresswell was a veteran and we have only offloaded McPherson and Stevens, does that mean that there won't be any room on the list for MJ and Scott McGlone when the draft picks are included in the list?
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

Is selection 45 lucky or something? Might be a luck factor.....

It could well be that Swans' salary cap pressure was more of a factor then what we thought, although I can't imagine that Stevens was on a motza. Maybe doing so well this year meant giving away more pay rises to the big improvers.

McGlone will most likely get promoted (its been 2 years already and his reserve performances definatley warrant senior list selection)
while Jimmy will most likely stay on the rookie list for another year and then hopefully by 2005 he will be on the senior list.

If we were gonna do a deal with Adelaide, we might as well have gone for Bode cause i thought we really needed that in and under type to replace cressa

Stevens and 2nd round draft pick might have done it...oh well Luke Ablett here's your chance!!

                      So is this right?

                      We have picks 16, 29, 45, 47 in the top 50?

Damn it. We should've kept 31. Stevens was worth #29, straight swap.

My guess is that Stevens must have wanted to return home. Maybe the Crows will play him back, given Nigel Smart hasn't got too many years left and they've several similar type forwards.

Can't think of any other explanation really.

I thought Perth was 'home'. It may be a little closer, but Adelaide is hardly just up the road.

I think you will find he is from Perth so they havn't even got that excuse.

Not to mention Irish luck - maybe we've uncovered a nest of Irish midfielding leprachauns and we need the extra draft pocks.
