    Draft Selections

We now know what draft picks we have and some idea of who is on the list and who's off.

Has anybody with some knowledge of the draft players got any suggestions as to whom we are likely to want/get?
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

we want Adam Cooney and Kepler Bradley; too bad we won't be getting them, unless the other clubs before us have a massive brain explosion..

its hard to say when your first pick is at 16, but I'd be going for the toughest midfielder we can get.

        Draft Selection

I would think that either of Troy Chaplin or Will Gayfer would be big chances for the Swans at pick 16.

Both KP players - CHB mainly.

Small chance for Tom Logan if he lasts til 16 - midfielder from NT.

are we allowed any more priority picks at all??? developing market or anything???

if so, this might explain the need for #45???

how many rams players played with the reserves this year? surely, some of those players would be a chance to be picked up...

Potter was one who played a few reserves games late in the season and seemed to do pretty well by the BOG reports. He wasn't invited to the draft camp, which suggests he's not on the radar of very many clubs. Wouldn't be surprised to see the club try to snare him with a latish pick, ala Schneider.

Interesting you talk about Potter, what's his name the AFL talent identification officer rated him a top 10 prospect and his smokey in the draft in the HS this week.

Potter did go to the draft camp, not the main one but the state based roadshows they have put on after the main camp for the kids that either could not make it or the ones that just missed out, my understanding was he was unable to attend the main although he was invited .

He is described as versatile utility, able to play tall or short depending on the circumstances requried.

I saw Nick Potter play in the Swans preliminary final on Fox Footy.

I was VERY VERY Impressed to say the least. We will pick this kid up IMO. I also think he would be a chance to play senior footy next season if we did so.

I think this kid might have something. Could get him cheap, with either our first round, or perhaps pick 29 (or maybe this is what pick 45 is for?)

Depends how much the other clubs rate him... I think having him play with the Swannies Reserves means that he is highly rated by the club, and fairly likely to be drafted I would reckon....

I rate him higher than Jarrod McVeigh

There was an article in my local paper about a month ago about Nick Potter. His preference would be to play for the Swans but mentioned that Melbourne and one other Melbourne-based club whose name escapes me had spoken to him along with the Swans.

Mase, you rate EVERYBODY higher than Jarrod McVeigh. I dare say you probably rate yourself higher.

Your attack/phobia on McVeigh has continued over the past 12 months. You somehow manage to get McVeigh's name into every second post and bag him!!

I find it boorish and I'm sure others do as well.

PS. Don't come back with 'didn't you see the wink emoticons'. I did, but this obsession of yours has been ongoing since the day McVeigh was touted as a possible draft choice.

Maybe because McVeigh is built like a girl.

Do you remember a bloke called Clinton King? Very same body size regardless of ability. Not many blokes go well in the AFL who are so small.

McVeigh may put on a few kg's but he doesn't have the body structure to put on too much.

Flea was OK, as was Libba pre Terry 'the scratch coach' Wallace, size is not NECESSARILY the key, but it is a worry.......did the coaching staff get seduced by the NSW heritage like some posters seem to?

I find it interesting that you say every 2nd post involves McVeigh.

I did a interesting search and found that McVeigh has only been mentioned in 15 of my 392 post on this website.

I would also like to point out that it was the NAME McVeigh I searched and not Jarrod himself. In this case I would be picking up Mark aswell, whom I have also never rated.

I do not rate myself higher. I think McVeigh WILL make it as a footballer, for some period or another.

But I always said I thought we paid too highly with the number 5 pick as I don't ever believe that he will be a STAR.

I think there were many better options in that draft, but we were weak and went for the 'local' boy.

I am quite happy to be proven wrong, but I have never seen any star qualities in McVeigh in the past (and I played against him for more than a couple of years, in the Hunters and on the central coast when he played there).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I do not believe that I have overly expressed mine at all.
