Well I'm feeling most unloved, still havent received mine, unless of course they send them out in alphabetical order, and being a "W" we are always the last!

I'm keen to hear about the extra payment to guarantee a GF ticket.

I was part of the members focus group and we discussed that very subject, however, we also put forward that whilst it was fine to slap on the extra amount for the guarantee of the ticket, it was only fair that those members got something in return if in the event that we didnt make the grandfinal. A scarf just doesnt cut it for mine - I already have 2!

We put forward the suggestion that a function be held on Grandfinal day for those contributers with say a big screen etc, BBQ that kind of thing, a bit of party type atmosphere, and a momento, similar to the Team of the Century pin. Obviously they didnt like that idea!

Anyway, they are my random thoughts for what its worth.

While I agree with you in principle Des on the subject of guaranteed GF tickets, fact is that all clubs now do it. It is just a way of screwing out more dollars from your members.

At least we have kept it at this stage to only roughly the half the GF tickets provided, at Collingwood you need to fork a minimum of $400.00 before you can gaurantee yourself a ticket and even then you must have paid by the end of November.

I'm not sure I see why you should get anything else in return if the Swans don't make the GF. What you're buying is an call option, and as with all options it is either worth a lot (if a condition is met or if exercise price is less than market price) or nothing. You don't get a sweetener if it turns out to be worth nothing.

If anything I reckon $75 is far too cheap. From a purely financial point of view, if the Swans were to make the GF once every eight years (which I suggest should be the expected frequency over the long term in an even competition), each GF visit will cost $600 (ignorning the time value of money). The alternatives would be buying a corporate package, which would cost around a $1000, scalping a ticket (for which you would probably pay a far higher premium), or queuing for some inordinate length of time and/or missing the prelim final to get a "queue ticket" for a low chance of getting one.

Another analogy - you don't (in most cases) get anything back on your insurance if your house doesn't get burgled.

Well Lizz Understand where you are coming from, however this was what the members who were invited on the focus group wanted! And we were all from various areas & professions but we all had the same ideal, value for money.

Dont think thats being unreasonable.

Still to receive mine. Will not be taking up the Premiership Club option simply because I will not be able to attend the GF in 2004 whether we're there or not. This year it was Jewish New Year, 2004 its Yom Kippur. Having said that, I've checked up till about 2017 and no High Holydays on GF day till then!

I haven't received mine yet. Hopefully I'll see my renewal in the mail when I get home. On the matter of the Premiership Club membership, $75 isn't a lot extra for Grand Final preference, especially compared to some other AFL clubs. My family has always bought the GF Preference with our memberships (which is usually not a lot more) and haven't gotten any value out of it. You buy it just in case the Swans make the Grand Final and you can go.

IMO $75 is cheap, for a guarantee.

And Lizz, you must be a stockbroker to have come up with such a good analogy.

From my brief conversation with Mr Moorwood, yes Melbounre members will be offered the premiership club. It will be similar to the Sydney offer and be of a limited nature.

Could be in the position where Membership is $75.00 and Premiership Club is also $75.00, now that is bizarre.

Speaking of bizarre, how can we have a premiership club when we have not won one in 70 years?

Sorry Robbie, I didn't explain myself very well that is what I meant.

I find it bizarre we can pay $75.00 to attend our 5 games and then pay $75.00 again so we have the right to receive a grand final ticket.
