I was under the impression that Fox & Lion was a get together venue before and after games for Swans fans. The Club might be getting some sort of sponsership kick back from the place and therefore advertise it as the "home" or whatever it is.
Realistically, how many Swans supporters are going to go to a Club situated in Newtown after a game. I'd set it up out towards the western suburbs. It would be a revenue raiser for the Swans as well as advertising the team.
Wests League Club still have their original club at Ashfield (a long way from their then home ground at Lidcombe when they played there decades ago) and now have a Club at Campbelltown as well. This is situated next to their current home ground.
For the Swans to have a venue within walking distance of the SCG would be great but won't happen. Unless something could be done at Homebush, that is when the area stops being a white elephant. In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.Comment

It is on hold while social impact studies are done, and while the true effect of the NSW Pokie tax increase is being investigated. Could be an option as a joint venture for Swans games out there though..
The door is totally shut on us taking over a club - I can't see how it will happen. They probably should have pushed hard to be given some space as their own at Fox when the deals were being made years ago. Anywho, enough could haves from me today!!......Comment

Personally I'd like to see the Sydney Aussie Rules Social Club in Kings Cross become our official home, just as it was in the past. Why did the Swans pull out of that arrangement anyway.
Unlike the truly pathetic, overpriced Fox and Lion hotel, the Syd. Aussie Rules Club has an audotorium with a big screen for all AFL games, numerous bar facilities, nightclub, bistro, TAB and of course plenty of gaming machines. Oh and lets not forget it is only a short drive/walk from the SCG with parking available in the council carpark behind.
Surely a deal along the lines of the East Leagues arrangement isn't to hard to organise. At least our money would go towards supporting the AFL/SFL and not the NRL.
How about this as an agenda item for the next SSI meeting???? Or better still, how about you people from Swans administration who read RWO, actually acting on this. Isn't it clear from this thread that our supporters want our own social club that we can call home.Comment

I have only become a supporter over the past couple of years (since my sister has been with a big time hoops fan), before then I just couldn't understand why anyone would like soccer!, these days I find myself watching and taping bloody SPL matches of the week .so it would be a bit rich of me to rub it any bluenoses face!, but my time will come lol
Fun community to be involved in I must say , hopefully the swans will develop supporter wise like that (minus the religous aspect!).
Even though it was interesting to be the only baptised anglican celtic supporter at Parkhead while I was over there in October!!Comment
