Who will be the bolter this year?

Last year Schneider came out of the blue, year before it would have been Fixter.

Who will it be this year?

Doyle?
McVeigh?
Rogers?
Sundqvist?

I reckon McVeigh will be one to watch and I certainly hope, that Doyle can stay on the park the whole year, if he can do that then from there he can start to really improve

Once the double-edged sword of a long-term injury occurs, it will be Rogers.

The man can play. It is frustrating to think that a player who would walk into our round one side after the injury to Schauble has no chance of being selected!

Yeah, from the little I've seen, I'd rate Rogers as potentially the most exciting prospect we've got.

Mind you, McVeigh is so young, and obviously has bucketloads of talent . . . he could be anything . . . but probably not this year.

And Buchanan has the look of a man who won't let anything get in his way. He knows he's on his last chance, and that kind of determination can carry a bloke a long way in footy.

Did a few nice things on Friday, however I doubt he'll play Round 1. Roos might give him a few matches in Canberra and then he might give him a desent run in the seniors.

Too late see other article Roos has already nominated Powell. He did look good as the game wore on.

Warfe is listed as 're-habilitating' which may be an opportunity for Rogers, although I suspect atm he has looked better because of poor opponents - does not look far away.

McVeigh will play off the bench.

From what I have seen pre-season, Rogers, Powell, Buchanan (who impressed with his work ethic on friday), McVeigh and to a lesser extent Ablett, will be pushing for spots.

On Buchanen

I was sitting near his parents on friday, one remark Monty's mum made was that he was trying very hard but not really getting anywhere, or that was the gist of it atleast.

On Buchanan, just an observation.

One of the things i really like about Australian Football is it favours hard work/ determination and punishes the lazy. I've been very critical of Amon in the past because he was very very lazy.

He impressed friday with his work ethic. There wewre lots of times when he gathered the ball in traffic, but was tackled before he got the ball out - he was hard at the ball. Hopefully with time he will start clearing those balls. The work-rate he showed should start working for him.

The best sign was when David King broke away with the footy. Two years ago he would have watched him run off, on friday that 40 metre chase was brilliant - King must have known he was on his hammer because he failed to break his stride to kick - then missed the goal.

Keeps working liken that then I think things will turn for him - I thought he did a fair job tagging King who had little impact on the game.

Probably have an idea who Roos will bring into the side for Schauble from whome he plays on Lloyd next week, my guess would be Rogers

Buchanan can't kick far enough. Powell was good towards the end. If Roos wants Rogers to play I am sure it will be arranged. Probably Warfe will be spoken to and placed on the long term injury list. If they are placed on that list and they recover and someone else is injured can their status be changed? Although I can't see Warfe playing anyway.
My tips for most likely to have an impact are also McVeigh and Rogers - both NSW boys (I think).

How 'bout Malceski? Seems to have been getting some wraps from the club and a couple of opposition supporters who've seen him have commented (over on BF) that he looks like a player. Not expecting him to "do a Schneider" this year but maybe could "do a Powell" and at least set himself up for 2005.
