    O'Loughlin back for Swans

    O'Loughlin back for Swans
    By John Thirsk
    March 9, 2004

MICHAEL O'LOUGHLIN will play his first match for the Swans in seven months this Saturday after recovering from hamstring and knee injuries.

The brilliant on-baller will test his fitness in the final practice game against Essendon in Newcastle.

He has not played since tearing his hamstring in the final minutes of the round 22 match against Melbourne at the MCG last August and missed the Swans' dramatic final charge.

"The hamstring has healed well during the off-season, but I haven't had any games this year because of some knee tendinitis," O'Loughlin said yesterday. "I'm looking forward to Saturday and getting in some match time before the season starts in two weeks."

After losing the opening match in the Wizard Home Loans Cup pre-season competition, the Swans have drawn defending champions the Brisbane Lions in the first round of the Carlton premiership at the Gabba on March 27.

"I'd just like to get one match away before the Brisbane game," added O'Loughlin.

The Swans' only real injury concerns are defender Andrew Schauble (hamstring), who is likely to miss the opening two rounds, and Ben Fixter (ankle).

      SCHWEET indeed!

Apparently the Bombers are probably resting their better players too, which means that our better players will get a chance to have a free(er) run at it, stretch out a little and be prepared, yet fresh for the Lions.

Hey Barry, have you read this post. This should put some otptimism back into your step.

Lift your head, watch the Semi against Port again, and hopefully you will come to life.

          Become the prophet of BOOM.

The thing with top players like Micky is you just want to watch them play. Watching us sans Goodes on friday, you really just miss the exhileration of watching top players go around.

Same goes with former players like Lockett and Kelly, it isn't the impact on the team I miss, it is the chance to watch them go around.

            Great player to watch Micky

You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

Remember when Kelly came back for that pre-season round in Canberra?

That's why comeback matches make me feel sick in the guts, not excited (especially when someone says "test his fitness").
