MICHAEL O'LOUGHLIN will play his first match for the Swans in seven months this Saturday after recovering from hamstring and knee injuries.
The brilliant on-baller will test his fitness in the final practice game against Essendon in Newcastle.
He has not played since tearing his hamstring in the final minutes of the round 22 match against Melbourne at the MCG last August and missed the Swans' dramatic final charge.
"The hamstring has healed well during the off-season, but I haven't had any games this year because of some knee tendinitis," O'Loughlin said yesterday. "I'm looking forward to Saturday and getting in some match time before the season starts in two weeks."
After losing the opening match in the Wizard Home Loans Cup pre-season competition, the Swans have drawn defending champions the Brisbane Lions in the first round of the Carlton premiership at the Gabba on March 27.
"I'd just like to get one match away before the Brisbane game," added O'Loughlin.
The Swans' only real injury concerns are defender Andrew Schauble (hamstring), who is likely to miss the opening two rounds, and Ben Fixter (ankle).
