    Nick Davis

He has been very quiet in the pre-season so far. He has however recovered from the OP which had plagued him for the large part of the last season. Could this be the quiet before the storm thingie??? What would we expect from him this year? A big year is a must for me. There is no excuse. Not playing out at full pace and he will regret later on. Somewhat like O'Loughlin, once a permanent injury struck, we would never see the best of him again. It is his time now

Agree, but many other players in that situation. There was a good article in yesterday's AGE about the top three players from the 97 draft and how they are at a crossroads of sorts. MOL will probably never be injury free again.

Nick is due for a big season. Might not be this year, but when it happens, look out. The guy is ultra talented. Why do you think the pies were so peeved at losing him.

Nick is a quiet person - probably a bit more at the moment - think he is missing Cressa a bit - they both spun off each other from what I gather.
Just needs to find a new spin off partener and will be okay. Believe his games will be great though.

This is a thread I posted a couple weeks back on my thoughts on ND : -

"2004 - What I hope and what he should ( Nick Davis ) become of as a player.
The right footed version of Nathan Brown ( Richmond - Ex Bulldogs )

I have thought about Nicks game and really what he should be aiming for / acheive is to equal or better Nathan Browns status.

No other "type" of player can I really see him transforming into more than Brown.

We all know he has the ability - whether he sees it through will be a different story - if he plays alot more in the midfield this year - which he should due to various reasons - he has every chance to emulate Brown - as the only differance I see atm between the two players is that Brown currently has a greater ball winning capacity than Davis - Brown can quite easily gain high 20's possesion where as Davis more than likely gets high teens.

I hope Nick achieves this status because he can do it! "

I think Nick Davis is the most talented player in the AFL, and that is not gushing bloods fan talk. When he really wants to put in the effort he puts out his mit and the ball sticks, he turns and the defence run the wrong way and he kicks or handpasses and the ball goes exactly where he wants it.

If Nick Davis averages more than 20 posessions a game he will be a superstar because his disposal is just that amazingly good.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I have no doubt Nick has the makings of a great player. His only thing is that he's a confidence player. But when his confidence is strong ............. look out.

Besides the way the club and his team mates accepted him, I think the best thing for him was the way the Sydney fans embraced him. There's that anticipation whenever he's near the ball, or involved in a play that sets hearts racing.

If he has read or has been advised (by his friend Ruda), he knows we (RWO posters) expect great things of him. A strong pre season and the best is yet to come. He's settled in well and IMHO he'll poll well for the Charlie, Bobby and Luffy Medals this year.

impact - yes, status - no

they are two completely different type of players but i understand what you are getting at

a midfielder/forward who can tear the game apart

Please expand on this comment - I see them as very similair players - albeit brown is in the elite class and davis is not at this stage - that is the only difference i see.

Please explain how they are totally different players

What a game from Nick - great kicking and getting in there and under as they say.
Worried about injury though - only hope he gets up next week we need to get on the winners list.

If there were any doubters of Nick Davis - they must have been dispelled tonight - only played 47mins which works out to a quarter and a half and yet had 4 goals and 9 possesions - in the form he was in it would not be unreasonable to suggest he would have gained 20+ possesions and at least 6 goals.
We would have won the game if he played throughout and Paul Roos acknowledges this fact more or less in different words.

His game tonight was on par for at least equal if not more devastating than Nathan Brown games on Friday night ( If you guys missed it he was pretty much BOG with 28 possesions and two goals and every possesion was effective).

Such a shame to see him get injured just when the real Nick Davis was about to shine.

If he makes this a consistent form in games we have ourselves a right footed version of Nathan Brown.

Might be he was reading my post and decided to perform . We definitely want and expect to see more of that from him though. One game does not make the whole season but.

Many people forget that he had Osteopubis before last season and had a restricted pre-season.
