Bit bemused by that. You may not agree with Steve's POV but biased? Do you realise that Steve himself is a Melbourne based Swan?

I take it all back - Liz just reminded me where I live.

You Sydneysiders don't understand and are just biased - don't insult us.

We get nothing and are constantly persecuted.

The club doesn't care about us.

I don't care about what is best for the club - I just want more games in Melbourne no matter what.

Yes I choose to be a supporter of what is now an interstate club but what does that have to do with ranting about what I'd prefer?

With 12 home games that leaves 10 away - there are 10 Vic-based clubs - I am insulted the club hasn't asked that all 10 be played in Melbourne which would make me happier.

Looking at the points I raised earlier in this thread I don't know what I was thinking.

You are real wit aren't you ? You put down every argument with an expletive and no coherent counterargument yourself.

So what are you doing to get more games beside abusing fellow fans ? Not much I'd expect. All hot air, Toothless aren't you ?

I sent a query to the Melbourne Office last Wednesday re: where the revenue goes. Guess what ? No response. Will post it as soon as I receive any info.

Now I'm the one comparing apples to oranges
Still don't agree with what he says particularly the travel. It's an away game and I know from experience that even having to do a road trip just 2 and a half hours away for a game of football is a daunting tastk. So again where's the advantage?

I apologise for making any further assumptions.

            ended your sarcasm mode yet?
I live in WA and yet I still see the sense of maintaining 6 games in Victoria for the club. The manuka game i see us as having absolutely no chance with changing but the bulldogs game up in sydney? that's a crock. even so, I'd be more than happy to see the dogs go under. as for the roos, well at least there having a real go of it and not just sticking their hands out for money. How do u think the melb dog supporters feel? Oh wait! They've answered that question in their memberships perhaps

No. generally I don't even bother arguing my points on here because (a) the people on here I could not give a rats about their opinions of me good or bad; and (b) I prefer to have discussions without the safety net of a computer screen because there's more emotion involved and people know right from the start the point you are getting across. Here I don't have the time or inclination to state my intentions word for word.

Have my melbourne membership even though I'm living in Perth. Toothless? No I have all my teeth, thanks for the concern. How about you? Not balding prematurely?

Well good for you. You are a concerned citizen aren't you. Still not helping the cause though are you? Even though you can empathise with the Melbourne supporters.

                Hmmm.

Kangaroos vs Sydney played in Canberra

SWANS: Sydney to Canberra flight = 50 mins
KANGAROOS: Melbourne to Canberra flight = 60 mins

                Any other away game
Sydney travel at least 1 hour (and up to 5 hours)
Home team doesn't travel at all

Am I just completely insane in feeling that an away game in Canberra is better than an away game in any other state? Travel time/distance itself, let alone the fact that in Canberra the 'home' side actually has to travel as well.

Any Canberra 'away' game is an away game in name only.

Due to it's proximity to Sydney and the ease of the drive down, no matter who we play we will always have the majority of support.

May be an 'away' game, but it will be a 'home' crowd.

Gunn. If the game went to Perth of course it would be aginst aPerth team. But if it went to Cairns, darwin, Tassie, canberra, it would probably against us. Why do you automatically think we would get an extra game in Melbourne if the Bulldogs don't play their home game in Sydney.

                    Flawed logic.
I don't like to answer a question with a question but your response begs the question. If we don't play the Bulldogs home game in Sydney what makes you think that we will play the Bulldogs home game at Cairns, Darwin, Tassie or Canberra rather than one of the other 14 teams? If it was played in Cairns it would likely be against the Lions. Darwin then one of 15 choices. In Tassy then more likely Hawthorn or the Saints. Canberra? Who knows. For any of these other things to happen the AFL would have to underwrite the game rather than us doing so as we currently do.

We are only playing that extra game in against the Bulldogs in Sydney because we bought it and they sold it.

I wouldn't be surprised however, in the event the deal concludes this year, that the Swans would buy a Geelong, Hawthorn or some other game if it was offered. Of course they would still tell us they were trying to maximise their games in Melbourne.

Some of you people amaze me. You would argue that if we travel one minute less than the North we have an advantage. One minute less and it swings to them? What a crock. The extra flight time between Sydney and Melbourne compared with Sydney Canberra is negligible. The playing at home routine is already disrupted.

The only advantage of playing Nth in Canberra is that they have to travel in the first place. Counter weighting this is the fact that we really need the experience playing in Melbourne whether it be at the MCG of Telstra Dome. I haven't checked but I would not be at all surprised if we play less games than any other team in Melbourne.

Support for the team in Melbourne is large, much more than the support in Canberra.

Yeah, lets try and get all games played north of the border. Stuff the Melbourne members. Who need them? There iare 20,000 Sydney members (in a good year). That ought to be enough for any team, right?

My Melbourne to Canberra trip was 50 minutes and my trip home was 45mins - pilot must've had his foot down!
They don't even serve hot drinks because the trip is so quick!
Not that this really has anything to do with the discussion that we MUST have more games in Victoria

I'm glad you posted my exact thoughts gunn. I had my reply page open for about 2 hours while I worked remotely on another pc and then came back to the reply and just couldn't be bothered. Sorry Toothy, you lost me a long while back.

You said a few posts back that the Canberra game wasn't your issue but the Bulldogs game was - then concur with Gunn's argument about why Kangaroos game should be in Melbourne and not Canberra????

Was your quoting of Gunn an explicit attempt to bait for a response from him/her? Why else would you have done it hey?

I'm not losing any sleep over the current situation - those who are need to either get over it or make an official submission to the AFL.

because i'm a sympathiser and can see everyones point to an argument

edit: and in all seriousness though, it was more agreeance with gunn's arguments against your arguments than the good of the game itself. Because you see I for one could not give two hoots about the development of football in other areas at the expense of paid up and passionate supporters who have not only been supporting the club for 22 years, but much longer.

edit: so there you have it. my whole slant on the issue.

edit: I'm not having a go at you steve, nor anyone else (except maybe Bart) so I don't see why the two of us should bore the people reading this thread with our two way conversation . PM if you like to hear my story.

edit: and now, I will read your last post
