Brett Kirk and the top 10 tacklers after round 4

Nothing overly interesting here, but for something that can at times get a bit of flak because it is seen as a stat for "taggers and scraggers" take a look at the current top 10 tacklers to round 4. Not a bad group of players for Kirky to be associated with... granted the superstars in there are also in the top 10 for disposals, but Brett isn't doing that badly there either this year...

    Tackles
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Interesting to see Schneider on 12, especially since he has missed one game. He was really applying great pressure on the Kangas defenders on the weekend. Great to see.

Did I miss his name, or is Jared Crouch missing. This suprises me a bit, although he has been playing more of an attacking game that previous years

Crouch has only 6 tackles to his name this year. 3 last Sunday and one in each of the firest three rounds.

I made mention of this in another thread. I reckon with Adam's pace, it makes him a terrific defensive forward. You can attribute lots of our second efforts into 50 to Adam because he runs blokes down with his blistering pace over 30 meters.

Even if he is having a down day with the boot, he never lets us down, keeps his feet more often than not and just chases all day.

Once he gets his range back and gets more time in the middle, he will be a great goal kicking midfielder who can make those huge 1%ers ala McLeod.

I don't think you can survive as a small "pocket" forward in the AFL nowadays without doing this. Just kicking a goal or two a game from a crumb or occasional mark isn't going to be enough.
Adam clearly understands this and is showing that he can match his brilliance with a lot of hard work.
