Sydney Swans star forward Michael O?Loughlin appears unlikely to play against the Demons on Saturday night at Telstra Stadium.
The 27-year-old was selected to play against the Kangaroos last Sunday in Canberra but experienced nerve pain in his right hamstring during a final training run and was immediately ruled out.
The condition settled down during the week but coach Paul Roos remains hesitant about risking his goal-kicking maestro.
?I am guided by Mick and the medical staff, but at this stage we haven?t picked him in the team,? Roos said.
?Just to be sure in his own mind? the last thing we want to do is make him tear a hamstring and he is out for another three or four or five.
?I think if we rule him out this week it gives him a good opportunity to do a bit more training do a bit more rehab and have a full week of training next week and to go into next week a bit better prepared.?
Sydney doctor, Nathan Gibbs, remains hopeful about the two-time All-Australian?s condition, but knows history will not be on his side and it may have to be managed.
?It?s been there for two or three weeks now and hopefully it will go away and not come back,? Gibbs said.
?But people who do get this type of nerve pain in their hamstring are more likely to get it again and have recurrences.?
Nick Davis, another who missed the Kangaroos match after pulling up sore from the right hip flexor he strained in round one, will train with the team on Wednesday night at Telstra Stadium. If all goes well he should be on track to return.
