From memory, sure someone will actually look up or know pick nos

Hall; quite complex, two early picks (6 & 12 ?? maybe) but to get 12th we traded Stafford and a second round pick to Tigers and took Daffy to get him of their salary cap.

Davis; simple, held firm in negotiations and got him for second round pick (around 20 i think)

Davis was traded for the pick (20 something) that got Collingwood Bo Nixon - a recent debutant.

Hall was complicated. We sent Ryan Fitzgerald to Adelaide, Stafford to Richmond (had to take Nick Daffy from them for salary cap reasons) and I believe we ended up giving St Kilda something like 3 first/second round draft choices.

        ...but don't quote me.

        Edit:
Turns out Ryan Fitzgerald to Adelaide wasn't part of the Barry Hall trade. We gave St Kilda picks 13 (Nick Dal Santo) and 17 (James Kelly, but St Kida got Heath Black for it).

          Best trade ever.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Here's some recent highlights... (from AFL.com)

Barry Hall - Traded by St Kilda for draft selection 13 (Nick Dal Santo), draft selection 17 (James Kelly), draft selection 45 (Nathan Clarke)

Nick Davis - Traded by Collingwood for draft selection 21 (Bo Nixon)

Andrew Schauble - Traded by Collingwood for Mark Kinnear, draft selection 34 (Leon Davis)

Paul Williams - Traded by Collingwood for draft selection 8 (Daniel Motlop), draft selection 39 (Adam McPhee)

Jason Ball - Traded by West Coast Eagles for draft selection 11 (Darren Glass), draft selection 41 (Kane Munro)

Andrew Bomford - Traded by Essendon for draft selection 36 (Danny Jacobs)

Assuming that we made the same selections at draft day (probably not), there are quite a few interesting trades there.

Davis and Schauble were big wins though. No wonder Collingwood hate us.

We seem to do quite a bit of trading with Collingwood.Off the top of my head Swans to Pies include Anthony Rocca,Licuria,Clinton King, Kinnear,S Morwood

Pies to Swans include Williams,Schauble,Scott Russell,Ahmat,Davis,Picken
I'm sure there is more.Winners and losers for both clubs.

I am not sure if Brereton came to us after his stint at Collingwood or if it was the other way around.

Guy Richards - (Draft choice 37 traded by Kangaroos for Ricky Olarenshaw, draft selection 8 - Daniel Motlop)

I think that must be part of another trade, because why would you trade selection 8 + a player for selection 37.

Motlop was involved in the Bell trade. The pies traded pick 8 to Freo for James Clement and Brodie Holland (swapping of some lower picks involved too). Freo on-traded that pick (pick 8), their first pick (pick 6) and Jess Sinclair to the Roos for Peter Bell.

The Roos picked Motlop at pick 8, Harris at pick 14 and Dylan Smith at pick 6. Dylan Smith is now no longer on their list.

The younger brother of former Roo Shannon Motlop became a bona fide AFL footballer in the second half of 2003. After playing only seven games in his first two seasons at the club, the explosive half-forward excited fans with his goal sense, long kicking and impressive leap, earning an AFL Rising Star nomination in round 16. Kicked 12 goals in the last seven rounds and averaged 17 disposals in that time to lay the foundation for bigger things.
Player honours: National AFL Rising Star nominee 2003.
Brownlow Medal: 2003 votes 3; career votes 3.
Draft history: 2000 National AFL Draft 1st round selection (Kangaroos) No. 8 overall on-traded by Sydney to Collingwood for Paul Williams.

This is from the Kangas website.
I think we did ok out of it.

Thanks for that, forgot about the Bell trade, could not work out who pies got from North !

Pretty good deal, but Motlop is no slouch

Not so clear cut. Sure, we've got a few great years out of Williams, but if the trade was on offer right this minute - McPhee & Motlop for Williams - it would not be an obvious choice for me.

Twice best and fairest and then All Australian.I am more than happy with his contribution.Motlop is a good player but he is a forward pocket of which we have a few.I really like McPhee.
If the trade was on now I presume plenty of people would think about simply because of Williams age.(not me)If Williams was 25 with that record behind him I doubt any one would give it much consideration
