Yeah i have to agree with Captain.

Stuey is a good player but does he need the captaincy when his own form is well down?

I would like to see kirk as captain.

Look at the game against the cats..it was kirk who started that 4th qrt firing and lifted the team. When ever he has a good crack at it, it really does send a jolt through the team. He does a lot of things that a leader would do on the field.

I dunno everytime the commentators call him captain it kinda sounds and feels right.

Maybe he is not really up for it though.

I hope people dont expect, or even want a change of captaincy midseason. That would play havoc with the team.

On Saturday we needed to adjust our centre clearance set- up quickly, quicker than allowing Dees six untouched clearances in five minutes or whatever. Whther that was a captaincy thing or an ?inexperience? thing I am not sure.

Losing one game closely at that dog of a stadium should not set us off on Stewie. He always was an interim, year or three, leader, he does inspire with his actions not words, a la Kelly, when fit.

For mine, Crouch should be next leader.

what a captain brings to his team, is not only measured by his on field performance.

Given most of Saturday nights match was spent on the bench having his shoulder manipulated (the big screens showed it quite often at the ground). We sit on the opposite side of the field and noticed when he came off he went immediately down the race to the rooms! So given the attention it was given Captain, I'm amazed you missed it.

Stuie's role as captain of our club goes far deeper than his on field performances. IMO this is why he was given the role. And when at the games, you can still hear the crowd noise level lift when he gets the ball not unlike it did with kelly.

            Get off his back.

Now then, Tina, trying to be reasonable is just out of the question. You have to start by ignoring the facts that -

              a) Maxfield's form hasn't been any worse than average, and

              b) he's done a fantastic job in stepping into the void left by Kelly.

What you have to focus on is that we lost a game and we need someone to blame . . . anyone will do!

With careful nurturing, this could end up bigger than the Saddo thread . . . . . . . . . and just as silly.

I think Maxfield is okay as captain, but he's IMO still carrying the injury from the Geelong game, but if he's fit he has to play.

Something I heard in the media was that Stuie's shoulder was troubling him the morning of the game. I think the match committee probably leave it to Stuie's judgement if he's fit to play or not, maybe they should take the responsibly out of his hands on those calls.
