Knowing the quality of Melbourne meterologists, there is a chance that Saturday will be reasonable (or at least I'm hoping). The only time recently that I've known that they've been right was when it bucketed down with rain, and they only got the weather predictions for the next couple of days right because it was still raining. My day will be completely and totally ruined if it rains, so at the moment I'm telling everybody I know to hope for no rain on Saturday.

If it does rain we may see O'Loughlin in for Doyle.

It's Autumn - sunny blue skies do get boring after a while - like staring at a Monet all day every day!!

BTW - 'showers' doesn't mean that it will necessarily be 'wet' though. May just get some drizzle in the morning and be fine in the afternoon. May make the ground & ball slippery, or may not.

After all this time of good weather we draw a game in the rain, though as people have said it's bound to be wrong.

maybe it's a good omen. Our first game in Sydney this year was a wet one and we won.

either way it's a grey old day for me. I have a 60th & 65th birthday party to go to right on game time. I'm leaving that early to go to a 50th and probably wont get to watch the game until the early hours of Sunday morning, just before going to a house trashing party. And what's even worse, I've been nominated THE DRIVER ALL WEEKEND!!!!! Lucky hubby got a new ford falcon V8 ute last week. I can at least enjoy driving along the freeway in it.

But there's never any REAL mud these days. the AFL ground have superb drainage and local footy gets cancelled.

I can remember dragging my boots out of 6 inch deep Merri Creek mud in the cricket pitch area. You needed high lacing boots in those days to keep them on your feet.
