Also in the last Quarter Goodes gave a free kick away for in the back.

From my vantage point (less than 50m away) he stood his ground and at the last minute used his body to nudge him out of the way no arms involved. This would have given Goodes a shot at goal from almost straight in front, 15 m out.

Was it or wasn't it in the back??

I didn't think it was, but the commentators on the radio were pretty sure, saying that he moved forward to initiate contact with Fletcher.

Swans players have been on the show in the past, but because the show is broadcast from Melbourne it isn't usual.

I suspect that Eddie is not letting Swans and Lions players on the show as payback for the Swans' and Lions' salary cap concessions. If this is true (unlikely but possible), it's a bit rich considering Collingwood is allowed to avoid trips to Perth when fixtures are drawn, and there's been no investigation into Eddie's possible conflicts of interest as commentator and president. The Colliwobble president claims to be campaigning for a level playing field - just so long as Collingwood's concessions remain off-limits.

Regarding the umpiring this weekend, I have to say that in all fairness Brisbane were also ripped off by the umpires this weekend. In the last two minutes of the game, when Brisbane were 6 points up, a kick for goal by the Saints that was out of bounds on the full by at least a metre was given a behind.

The Saints won by a point.

There was no doubt that this was a fair mark, no hands used in the nudge under the ball.

The thing with this umpiring performance was not so much the missed free kicks to us (loads of those), but the fabricated and invented free kicks to the Dons. It was the nearest thing I have seen to a cheating performance.

Kevin must have had those fu#kers on the payroll.

and Lynch's mark in the first half... that was a bit odd - the one where he went troppo and gave away a 50 when he realised he hadn't been paid it. Still I reckon that's just a couple, there were about four shockers the swans lost or gave up goals over.

Firstly, I don't like the tone of this thread.

Seems some people are talking about Eddie in a nice way.

                  Please never do that.

But wasn't it wonderful to see a side that decided to shut up shop with a couple of minutes to go with the insipid back kicking blight on our game, get rolled.

another person who reckons the umpiring was ok and that we should put up with it. How is Roos a sore loser for calling up Gieshen for an explanation? He has a duty to make this a big deal, because the umpiring was atrocious.

I don't think he came across as a sore loser at all...

He needs to clarify why certain rulings were made for the sake of team and for instance change strategies in defence if we were indeed breaking the rules (AS IF )

While the umpiring was ****, I doubt if Essendon didn't get those goals from free kicks thoughout the match, we would of got close in the end.

The Bombers are masters at killing taking the excitement out of the game. And when Fletcher stood in the goal square waiting for someone to come at him was pathetic.

Shame Sheedy Shame. You are killing this great game with boring tactics.

Agreed, though that should be the end of it as far as the media is concerned but it's gotta be hard not to go on with it, I know I would. We were in a similar situation last year with Bazza and a few other issues. It's gotta get to you after a while.
