In my opinion at the moment the team seems destined for a end position between 6-9 for the following the reasons
1. too many injury prone players. Our defence relies heavily on Schauble and without him we suddenly seemed stretched in many positions. Micky O is due back soon, but seriously...it has been 5 weeks with a hamstring twinge...imagine if he actually tears it....which isnt unlikely. Fixter played 2 games and went of injured in both of them...Schneider is now unlikelytobe playing at full capacity till around round 12-13.
2. Our fringe players don't get enough game time. LRT,Powell, Ablett, McVeigh, (sundqvist before he was injured). i've been harping on about this for a while, but can we please see any of our fringe players get some real time in the seniors it is driving me nuts. In my mind Mcviegh is the only one who shouldn't be throw in to early, but playing him for 5 or10minute spurts in the midfield isnt fair. How can anyone get the pace of the game if they know they will be dragged in 5 minutes.
So I have come to this conclusion. This whole idea that certain players don't have to play reserves...eg. Micky O, is crap. I think that this business of passing fitness tests is crap as well, I think that unless you are definitely100% you don'tplay, in the mean time Our fringe players should be given more gametime so that they are capable of stepping up when we have injury problems, and we can aim our run at the end of they year by aiming at having Schauble, Schneider, O'loughlin, Davis, Fixter fit for around round 12 or so and hopefully by then we have won 6or 7 games and we can aim at hitting the finals with a full head of steam.
