End of year result and theory

In my opinion at the moment the team seems destined for a end position between 6-9 for the following the reasons

    1. too many injury prone players. Our defence relies heavily on Schauble and without him we suddenly seemed stretched in many positions. Micky O is due back soon, but seriously...it has been 5 weeks with a hamstring twinge...imagine if he actually tears it....which isnt unlikely. Fixter played 2 games and went of injured in both of them...Schneider is now unlikelytobe playing at full capacity till around round 12-13.

    2. Our fringe players don't get enough game time. LRT,Powell, Ablett, McVeigh, (sundqvist before he was injured). i've been harping on about this for a while, but can we please see any of our fringe players get some real time in the seniors it is driving me nuts. In my mind Mcviegh is the only one who shouldn't be throw in to early, but playing him for 5 or10minute spurts in the midfield isnt fair. How can anyone get the pace of the game if they know they will be dragged in 5 minutes.

So I have come to this conclusion. This whole idea that certain players don't have to play reserves...eg. Micky O, is crap. I think that this business of passing fitness tests is crap as well, I think that unless you are definitely100% you don'tplay, in the mean time Our fringe players should be given more gametime so that they are capable of stepping up when we have injury problems, and we can aim our run at the end of they year by aiming at having Schauble, Schneider, O'loughlin, Davis, Fixter fit for around round 12 or so and hopefully by then we have won 6or 7 games and we can aim at hitting the finals with a full head of steam.

Ah, the world is full of theories, especially AFL ones.

Round 6 theories are usually blown to the shizzenhousen by Round 22.

Brisbane last year had a horrific injury-run during the season but somehow getting the full team back when it was really matter. Maybe we are following the same path, with the same luck hopefully .

Do you advocate, then, playing ten-a-side, or maybe increasing list sizes to 80 or so?

I agree about giving the young guys an extended period of time, especially Buchanan, Ablett and to perhaps a lesser extent Powell who I think would flourish given the opportunity (and I mean more than just one or two games strung together). They all seem physically ready for senior footy, and I guess it depends on whether a spot in the side opens up for them or not. As unfortunate as Schneider's injury is, if it means that one of these guys (or any of the other youngsters) gets more time on the field, it could work as a blessing for them, and hopefully for the team. Stevens has been doing pretty well at Adelaide (and I don't begrudge him a second of it), but he couldn't seem to break into the Sydney side for long stints.

Can we send Micky and Schneider to the doc who did the magic trick with Heath James' hammies?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I was watching some of the game at Geelong on Sunday and noticed this. To me it is more an indication of what an ordinary team the Crows are more than anything.

How does the Crows' performances reflect on Stevens? He's beating players from the other team, not his own.
