I hope Paul Roos reads your considered thoughts. It should make the rest of the season fascinating if he takes your advice. But what about the Pies/Swans game - that'll be like a grand scale misere from the card game 500 - with 36 players instead of 52 cards? The problem is that they are already leading in losing games so how can we get them to accidentally win some to help us out?

This rebuilding stuff doesn't wash. What are we rebuilding towards - ongoing mediocrity??
Our younger players simply don't compare to the kids Brisbane was bringing through in the late 90s and what St Kilda has been doing in the past few.

Bottom line is we desperately need a CHB above all else. LRT will not be the answer and Saddo is not up to it. Bolton just isn't big enough and Goodesy isn't accountable enough and best football will be at RR. Maybe after 50 games James could be that player but do we really want to throw all our eggs into that basket?

I think we have to look elsewhere and be prepared to trade early picks or players to get what we want.

A goal to goal line of Shauble-???-Davis/Goodes-Hall-O'Loughlin oozes potential.

Just personal opinion. I probably went in a bit strong but I don't think that we miss him as much as you make out. There was a period a few years ago when I'd get frustrated with his play, but if the game was tight in the last quarter, he was one player who you could depend on to lift.

good player yes, but definitely not on the level of a fully firing Paul Kelly as some users of the board seem to imply when going on about how much we miss him

                  Kick a winning Score!!!

From memory we have only kicked 100 points once in 8 games.

A few nineties, but not enough centuries.

We've kicked 100+ twice (Rd 2 v Freo and Rd 4 v the Roos). We have kicked 15 goals in a game 4 times - with 7, 8, 9 and 12 behinds on those occasions.

                    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

                      Ta, Mike_B,

Unfortunately on the other 2 occasions, the other team kicked more.

And the last 2 weeks, no one was going to kick a huge score in those conditions.

As long as it is mathematically possible to make the finals, I would expect the club to bust a gut trying to get there. And even if we couldn't make the finals, I would be VERY disappointed if the guys went out there without giving 100% of their effort to winning the game.

To a certain extent, I can accept giving a few younger kids a go in place of stop-gap players if there is no hope of finals, but I also think there is very little benefit to them or the club by sticking 18 1st or 2nd year players into a senior game - they'll get smashed, and that can't possibly help their development.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

This part I tend to agree with. I have been surprised by some who claim that our form slump has been due to losing Cressa from the middle.

A fine contributor over many years but not the miracle worker some have suggested IMO.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Are you crazy ??? Right now collingwood are tanking for a couple of hot players, and if we are smart we should consider doing the same.
In fact a lot of what is wrong with the Swans could be put down to the fact that we need to experience winnin the wooden spoon. At least under the current system.

Oh, I thought they were just playing crap footy. If they have told the President then I was wrong and he really is an Academy Award winning performer as he sounds gutted when they lose another game.

There's some remarkably stupid posts on RWO at present but I think you win.

It doesn't hurt the team to lose a few on the trot. It builds character. You can see it on the faces of the players, they hate it.

I don't advocate throwing games - this does nothing for the players on the pitch.
