    Mike Sheahan downer

"Given what was served up by the Swans yesterday, their time in the eight has to be temporary. Four straight losses followed by a lucky one-point win at home over Hawthorn says that only the colours are the same in Sydney this year."

Would he have seen the entire game before penning that? My guess is no - maybe most of the first half before the game he would have attended in Melbourne. I find it quite amusing that some journos will pass comment based on a few highlights, or half a game, without having seen the full picture.

While we aren't playing at the same level as last year, we are seeing flashes of 2003 and have the ability to get back to that level in the coming weeks with a bit of confidence and a couple more wins under our belts.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

Yep, and the way the season is developing puts our win over Freo and the Cats in better perspective.

I stopped reading his articles many years ago. For a senior sports reporter he writes a lot of crap that isn't worth the paper it is printed on.

Personally I read the sport pages for the FACTS, not for someones opinion. When will they learn, we can make up our own minds, and just write what we want to know - FACTS!!!

          Sheahan

Mike Sheahan is a moron so don't worry about anything he writes or says.

He doesn't even watch the games he attends. He is too busy wining and dining.

He is an embarrasement to our great game.

I don't know why he is elevated so....

On current form, I'd have to agree with him. We can say all we want that we see glimpses of 2003, but until we can string it together and play consistent footy, then he is entitled to say what he said.

Im not very fond of him either, and I'll be the first to say **** YOU if we get back to our 2003 best.

I find it hard to disagree with him, but the Swans have a chance to prove him and all wrong and go on with the season now.

They haven't been great at all, but to be in the 8 after the past 7 weeks, puts us in a nice position to find some form and stay there.

He may be right about our time in the eight only being temporary, but when he comments on what was served up yesterday having probably not even seen the game, that's what irks me.

I don't see that 7 of the teams in the eight have shown they are eminently beatable. In fact there's only one form team in the competition this year. Today, the Melbourne media have decided that Freo and the Cats are "the real deal". That'll hold until Freo loses by a big margin in an away game and when the Cats next lose the plot. The rest are much more up and down than the Swans - who have injury problems to rival the worst. We just have to hold up and build on yesterday's win.

Sadly, the Swans dropped their bundle early this season and the only way back is unrelenting hard work. So the Doggies game is just as important as the Hawks was. IF we win that then there is the real step up. There has not been a game that the Swans have completely let go - though Richmond came close. If Roos is right that an honourable loss is just another bloody loss then the Swans have to get across the line against Port in Adelaide and show the Saints that the SCG can be made into Fortress Sydney. Winning one of these would be a good lead-in to the second half of the season. Winning both would be back to 2003.

So the guy actually writes some truth and you all disagree and abuse him. Do any of you actually know anything about footy?

We played crap against a crap side. What do you want him to say "Was an honorable 1 point win by the swans and it shows that they are on the way back..expect them to dominate after round 16"

                    Please some of you...

Diego, it's sad, but I have to agree. We won, but it was as unconvicing as citing AAHDT as an excuse for anyone conducting some of the worst low-life human behaviour imaginable. Glad of the 4 points for sure, but still very unhappy about our overall form. That said it will be the second half of the year before we get out best team back on the field... Schaubs will allow Leo and Tig and B2 to return to their best positions...Micky is running into form and with St Nick and Schneider to return, things will get better. I don't think we can make the top 4, we have allowed the teams above us to get too great a break, but a top 8 finish is still on the cards, and we can beat any team in the competition on the day -- and that is true of all teams. We have to keep working at it, honing our skills...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Why do you keep saying "we"? You and a few others here seem to have even less respect for the team and its individual players than supporters of other teams do.

If I thought the Swans was a rubbish team of incapable players playing poor games under a dumb coach and answerable to an incompetent management then I'd do something else with my time. I really don't understand why you follow the Swans or regard yourself as part of the team's supporter base?

Pfft I bet you clapped the boys off when we lost against the tigers and said well done.

When we start winning footy games convicingly then I will start to feel positive, but when we barely win against crap sides then the teams deserves no praise.

Keep being happy with a mediocre effort..after all as long as they make the 8 or land 8th spot its all that matters.

And BTW you mention we..but i wouldnt want to be associated with your type of supporter anyway.

The article is exactly what I was getting at with my "woeful" post.

The game yesterday -- despite the win -- is only further evidence of how badly we're playing.

                            It's a simple point.

Yes... but what would we prefer?

Play badly and lose... or play badly and win?

We need to put it into the right perspective. Compare that game to the Kangaroos one, and it was terrible. Compare it to the Richmond one, it was exactly what we needed - to come out on top in a hard fought contest.
