I spoke to Tony Morwood about it the other day in Perth. It is best to email him at <[email protected]> and let him know you want one. I'll have to start chasing things up for myself and the legion of Sydneysiders set to invade Corio Bay on that weekend.

Tony Morwood is the BEST thing that has happened to this club in yonks. So give him a chance you Melbourne-based supporters.

He came up to me in Perth and just said "Julian from Sydney, will you be needing tickets for the Geelong match. " I was near speechless.

I suppose us Sydneysiders might need to contact him re getting tickets ourselves. I'll find out what the go is re Port Adelaide tickets as well from the club in Sydney.

And as shown by the club's knee-jerk response to the Paul Roos issue, letter-writing definitely DOES work.

My understanding is that the club is able to supply tickets to all away games other than those in Melbourne. You have to phone up the membership department by 12 noon (non-negotiable deadline) on the Friday two and a bit weeks before the game and pay for them by credit card. These are not Cheersquad tickets, just "general" ones but if the ones we were given for the Canberra game are anything to go by they should be pretty good seats.

I think the syntax of the Swans' email addresses is surnameinitial, rather than the other way round. Try morwoodt and see if that works.

As for Tony Morwood, I think he has been exceptional so far.

Done far more than I expected.

Aside from increasing the membership base down here, his main role as I see it is to try and resolve the above mentioned issues for us.
Not really hard to fix issue, either, so I hold a lot of hope for us in the future

Is that unreasonable for me to ask to not have to pay not only for Fox Footy, but also for the rest of Foxtel just to see a few games?

So I buy a membership to travel out in the cold to see a game which is on TV, and the games I can't get to without flying or getting pay tv I can't see.

That, for me, is the most ****ed up thing about being a Melb based Swans supporter.
This is so impracticle that it is laughable.

I have a lot of sympathy for Melbourne-based fans, having followed the Swans in Melbourne myself, and feel there should be 6-7 games a year in Melb/Vic, but this type of thread just makes you look like you will complain about ANYTHING IMO!

                      Really Bear?

I don'y think I complained once about the lack of Victorian games.
That can only be fixed at the end of the year.
                      This is fixable now.
The AFL, Swans and networks could figure something out if they tried.

Is it too much to ask for a 2am replay which I can tape to see the game.

How many games are televised into Sydney?

                      So what are you suggesting?
That I should hand over my cash to get pay TV which I don't want?
Or should I fly interstate every week?

Either option sits well with me if you are willing to provide the $$$

I think that if the Swans want real support from their Melbourne fans, then we need to actually be able to SEE the games.
                      Is that so unresonable?

                      And what is so impracticle?

That the Swans actually DO something for their fans?

Impracticle = you asking to see the Swans on TV as part of your Vic membership. The Swans don't own the TV networks. TV bosses ultimately answer to advertisers, not minority supporter bases.

Wait... I have an idea. You pay for all of the ads during the footy and you might be able to persuade the netowrks...

A 2am replay on FTA would breach the AFL's agreement with Foxtel... how are the Swans supposed to get around that???

Are you implying that they actually do NOTHING for supporters at the moment?

Don't take what I said so literally.
I EXPECT, as a supporter of the Swans to be able to see the games.
I know there will be the odd occasion when I can't, but we are 4 from 10 at the moment, that's nearly 1/2
So yes, I expect the Swans to look after us and do what they can for us to see the games, if they want me to remain a passionate supporter.

I DO pay for the ads.
By watching them during the game.
That is the very essence of an ad...

The Swans are supposed to discuss this matter with the AFL so they can either come to some agreement with Foxtel of keep it in mind when the TV rights are renegotiated.

On the contrary, in another thread I made a comment how great Tony Morwood has been for us down here.

But don't you think that it is valuable for a club for their supporters to be able to see the games?

In CTS's defence, he is usually one of the Melbourne based supporters who doesn't complain about the raw deal they get. He is usually the voice saying, ok it sucks but lets see what we can do for next year - you know, 'no point crying over spilt milk'.

This is a rare outburst - to which he's entitled. If it was me, I'd probably join Charlie and rant and rave about it (Not having a go you Master G ) afterall this is a forum where we often vent our frustrations side by side with our exasperations and joy.
