    Davis in for Swans
    27 May 2004___Herald Sun
    Tim Morrissey

SYDNEY forward Nick Davis will return against the Western Bulldogs at the SCG on Saturday night after making a quicker than expected recovery from persistent hip muscle soreness.

"Davo is fine to play which is good," Sydney coach Paul Roos said yesterday.

"The decision not to play him last Sunday against Hawthorn has paid off, so we will play him against the Bulldogs."

Davis had been struggling to get through training over the past month.

The only option left for Roos was to rest him until he had fully recovered which could have taken up to a month.

However, news the flamboyant 24-year-old star is back this week is a bonus for the Swans, as he is extremely reliable in front of goal, converting 10 of his 12 scoring shots from limited opportunities this season.

Roos revealed yesterday that he also postponed his usual Monday post-mortem by putting on a lunch for the players after a team recovery swim at Clovelly Beach.

After feeling the heat following four consecutive defeats, Roos was keen for the players to enjoy the much-needed win.

The only thing that worries me in all of this is that Nick has only had a week off and everything seems to be miracously alright now.

I was glad to see him be omitted due to injury, but I felt he would miss at least two games, maybe three.

Well it was a week ago he told me he was alright (and he was walking with no limp). Anyone know how he trained this week?

If the Doggies kicking stays true, we'll need Nicky D's boot tomorrow night!

I hope this is not a bad omen, as i don't think we've won a game with him in it yet....

man..... that is some deep superstition. perhaps that is appropriate since the man sold his soul to the devil for his kicking ability
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know
