    Game Thoughts

Good win in the end, but again we let a side off the hook. We should of put the Dogs away in the last quarter, not let them get a few soft goals. Our kicking at goal is really letting us down at the moment, against better sides we'll be found out. At least we are getting some wins on the board.

Injuries are really starting to hurt. Schauble's injury has been a killer, despite the fact the defence tonight really stood up. I hate to think how Rawlings would of played if he was fully fit.

Bevan and Buchanan have got to be the finds of the season. Buchanan in particlar has really gone to the next level. Quiet season half, but gee he did the job early. With Bevan I really liked his game tonight, made a few mistakes sure but he really stood up at times and got near the ball enough to have an impact.

The midfield finally performed as ONE for once. Willo, Stu and Jude had there best games of the season so far and Kirk and Crouch really did their jobs on West and Johnson. The run off half back was back for the second week running which is good to see. Ball is really doing the job in the ruck at the moment and while Doyle didn't get much of a run again, he at least tonight showed something.

Nicks in the last three weeks has been a surprise, really has found he mark across the centre and half forward. Might be that old head we need in that area.

Its a crying shame about Saddo. Despite all the crap that went on early in the season over him, he really has picked up his game out of defence and the loss while most likely not as damaging as say a Hall or Goodes, is going to hurt us a little bit. On injuries I think its getting to the stage where we might stuggle to get 22 fit men on the field in the coming weeks. Why Davis played tonight I don't know, he should rest up until fully fit and allow himself a chance to play a proper game of footy when he gets back. Because he is no use to us, being in for 1 and out for 4.

Well at least we are winning again and thats the most important thing I guess, but with the next two weeks until the brake against St Kilda and Port in Adelaide we really need to win at least one of them to set ourselves up for a run at the finals.

agree with just about all of that robbieando. Mickey had another superb game in the forward line. Great leading and marking, and we probably would have struggled to find a target without him there because Hall was out-of-sorts tonight.

Stuey really played well tonight. He cleaned up across half-back and had some penetrating kicks into the forward line as well.

Goodes was admirable on Rawlings, and only once or twice got beaten. Im not sure who he'll play on next week against the Saints, but it will be his hardest test to date, by far, at CHB.

McVeigh looks the goods. That 50m pass to Buchanan just before half-time had skill, poise, and class written all over it. Too bad he hit the post in the last quarter.

Saddo's knee puts a downer on the night though. He managed to walk off the ground, so Im not sure why afl.com.au reported a season ending ACL rupture. Does anyone know the extent of the inkjury?

And where was Fozzy all night? Did he even register a touch??? just kidding! get well soon - Ive had tonsilitis 4 times, and it SUCKS!

That's what happens with ACLs as I understand it. He walked off the ground last time too. Healy said that you get a sharp amount of pain for 15-30 seconds and then it's gone as the nerve endings are damaged. You can walk on it quite often.

Ahh ok, thanks for clarifying that. Its just that I always see players stretchered off and in obvious pain, but Saddo walked off with only a slight limp.

I think Davis was sustained an injury during the game that was completely unrelated to those that have kept him out of the team and down on form. Longmire came to the Aftermatch and told the assembled throng that he was kicked in the ankle early on in the game, had an injection that allowed him to come back onto the ground, but then the injection wore off and the pain started spreading up his leg.

Suggested that he is 50/50 for next week, and will have to attend to the injury carefully during the week if he is to be a chance.

His kid should be due to be born soon (if it hasn't already). That'll give him something to keep busy.

I thought Maxfield started to find some form against the Hawks last week, good to hear he is building on that.

              And good on Nicks.
Hope he continues to play well and hold his place.

When Kel dis his knee against Port in '98, he also left the field under his own power.

Didn't notice it as much at the game, but watching the replay on Fox Footy, Leo had an absolute blinder. As did Tadhg. Starting to see some of that back line magic from 2003, which we saw glimpses of last week.

                    Bad luck about Saddo.

Saddo has a daughter Chelsea Jason born a day or so ago.
So real sad we will miss him but will give him time at home.
Hope he recovers quickly and can get back to begin next season.

I thought the run off the half back line was back to last years standard, if we can just find enough talls to allow Leo to play there.

Monty really starting to find his feet at this level and the form of Bevan.

On the down side injuiries what is the record for the most injured players at one time in a season?.

The run off half back was great, although was Kennelly watching Bowden? If so then he needs to tighten up his defensive work as Bowden could easily have kicked six.

for the first time this year, we had an animated chat about how the players played tonight, and it was positive.

So many good signs. Still very impressed with Monty and the fact he had Smith line up on him is a show of how much Rhode also thought of him.

Leo's run was good. Tadhg's run was just amazing at times. Kirky kept West's possessions very low (again )

Willo started like a man possessed and kept going. Stuie had a standout game of his season. Jude put it in gear another notch on last week.

Just a little disappointed on the goal kicking accuracy.

Disgusted at the treatment Hall got. (I once respected Smith as a player. After last nights efforts, it's a little tarnished.)

Was very proud of the Brewongle concourse standing ovation when Hall was sent off with the blood rule.

Am a little anxious about what may come out his little incident with Grant.

He walked off the field, but then was bandaged up and came off the ground on crutches.
